About this property
Jenson Cottage at 'This Is Not Here'
The team at ‘This Is Not Here’ have taken their inspiration from all the good and bad experiences they have had through extensive travelling across the world to create what they believe is a unique brand.
The concept is to create memories, not just stays! It is all about the customer experience.
If you do decide to book with us (which we hope you will), we want you to leave with the five star WOW factor and become a returning regular friend.
Each cottage has been meticulously thought-out with décor, furnishings, fixtures and art work. Some of the furniture, lights, ornaments and prints are available to purchase.
We have a strong sustainability ethos, although very much on a journey. This ethos has a principle of where ever possible only using local trades, shops and produce. The cottages have ground source heating and all the properties are supplied with Green electricity and we also have an internal and external EV charge point for electric and hybrid cars.
We can provide locally sourced meats from our butcher or you can go and meet Carl yourself. Responsibly sourced fish from our Fish Monger and again you can meet Richard if you would like. Milk (in returnable glass bottles) from a small dairy in the Yorkshire Dales (no super herds) along with local Eggs, Butter, Cream and Orange Juice (again in returnable glass bottles) can be provided by our Milk lady, Christine. There are also numerous small Artisan Bakeries, Patissier, Green Grocers and other great food and drink businesses in the local area.
We realise there is more to do on being sustainable, this is our journey and if you have any ideas on how we could improve whilst staying with us we’d love to hear them.
We are more than happy to discuss any requirements you may have for your luxury break and make it personal to you. We can organise the occasional day, evening or your entire stay.
These could include (but not limited to) Chauffeured Excursion, Private Chef, Caviar Experience, Yoga, Wine Tasting. This can be organised before you arrive or during your stay and is subject to availability.
Please do not feel any obligation to do any of these things, your stay with us is about creating a luxurious memorable experience, this may mean you only want to book the cottage and relax in complete privacy whilst taking in the beautiful views and wildlife, luxurious surroundings, antiques and artwork.
We always provide a starter welcome pack free of charge, this includes, fresh milk, tea, filter coffee, sugar and dishwasher tablets. We are happy to organise a Bakers, Fish Mongers, Butchers and Green Grocers hamper for you or combination, please let us know and we can discuss your requirements.
Well behaved pets are very welcome and do not attract any additional charge, all we ask is you let us know if your bringing a pet and do not allow them on the beds or furniture.
Jenson Cottage at ‘This Is Not Here’ is a luxurious and meticulously equipped self-catering property, decorated in Farrow and Ball colours and furnished with antiques, paintings, photographs and prints by various artists. Most pieces in the cottage have a story such as the refectory table made from Brighton Piers old timber, lights from HMS Ark Royal or prints from the local world-renowned wildlife artist Robert E Fuller.
The cottage stands in the grounds of the main house. The property is gated and you will be provided with your own unique code to allow you to come and go as you please.
Sleeping up to 4 adults (across 2 bedrooms), this cottage has everything you need for an unforgettable break that has the ethos of ‘collect memories not things’. It is attached to Morgan Cottage that can sleep upto 6 adults (across 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living area), although both cottages are independent of each other.
Jenson Cottage has a private outdoor living courtyard with Gas BBQ Oven and hob, Cast Iron Fire with oven ideal for cooking small pizzas, jacket potatoes or corn on the cobs etc. It has a luxurious hot tub that is cleaned and refilled after each stay along with quality outdoor furniture.
Inside you will find the latest Dualit and NEFF appliances along with plenty of pans, crockery, cutlery and glasses. There is a DVD player and two SMART televisions that have Netflix, iPlayer etc and the facility for other pay to view services such as Amazon Prime and Now TV.
There is a Bose speaker that can connect to your SMART device via Bluetooth and of course WiFi throughout with your own unique access code.
There is a downstairs WC and upstairs bathroom with fittings by Burlington, Chadder & Co and Thomas Crapper. There is also a luxury Air Pool Spa Bath fitted.
The main bedroom has extensive fitted wardrobes and a dressing table with a King Size bed. The second bedroom can be set up with either two Single beds or a King Size bed and again has a fitted wardrobes.
There is a safe in the property for your use, house alarm, emergency lighting and smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
The cottage benefits from beautiful views of the Yorkshire Wolds and is situated in a peaceful traditional farming village. Its location is ideal for visiting Malton and York (which are circa eight miles away) as well as the Yorkshire Wolds, North Yorkshire Moors and the fabulous East Coast.
We also have electric car charging facilities, should you require.
Stamford Bridge is only one and a half miles away and has all the amenities you could want, Butcher, Baker, Farm Shop, Pubs that serve food, Bistro, Cash Machine, Takeaways, Doctors, Dentist etc. Stamford Bridge also has a regular bus service to York.
Malton is a must for food lovers and is also the place that gave Charles Dickens’ the inspiration for 'A Christmas Carol' whilst staying with his friend Charles Smithson. Charles Dickens’ close link with Malton stemmed from his friendship with Charles Smithson, a member of a Solicitor’s family who practised in Chancery Lane, Malton and shared also in the London firm Smithson and Dunn. Their office in Chancery Lane was the model for Scrooge’s Office and the ‘Bells’ were those of St Leonard’s Church on Church Hill.
There are also lots of other villages close by with excellent pubs, community shops and lovely walks and rides.
