The home was like stepping back in time-it had a lot of personality.

Pluses and minuses
My family of 17 people appreciated the great spaciousness and 9 queen beds in this perfectly located historic house. The pool table was a big hit with the wide range of ages. The lack of expected maintenance and cleanliness were the drawbacks. Regardless, we had a wonderful time.
A beautiful, large historic home in an excellent location
We had a great reunion with family and friends. We enjoyed the large dining room, large deck overlooking park (where we later picnicked), piano (tuned!), billards, two family rooms (one off the kitchen the other upstairs, carpeted, perfect for the little ones to crawl around and play on. The location was perfect, directly across the street from the Nelson Atkins Art Museum where we played putt putt golf and enjoyed both the inside exhibits and the outdoor sculpture garden. There is a Whole Foods market 3 mins by car or 10 minutes walking across the the park. It will be even better with the street car line is completed. There were some cleanliness issues when we arrived, but the host responded promptly, came over right away, and clean what his cleaners had missed. The host was also very responsive to my questions before the stay as I was coordinating sleeping arrangements for a large group. I highly recommend.
Met family from across the nation to attend baseball games. House was perfect for our event which included breakfasts, coffee and a lot of story telling. This vintage home is beautiful in character. A few refresh projects were in process but it did not damper our stay.
We were met by our gracious host and shown the property. The home is beautiful! It was clean, well stocked, and has everything you will need. Thank you for sharing this gorgeous place!
This house was great for our family celebration. There were several big rooms to hang out in. The deck was great as well! Kitchen was well stocked. It is in the process of being renovated and is a house with lots of character. All bedrooms were up stairs.
Would stay here again.
First of all, the house is huge with lots of sleeping spaces and gathering spots. We could really spread out! There's a great front porch and an enclosed back deck, which we utilized. The kitchen was the most stocked kitchen I've ever seen in a VRBO with every kind of gadget and utensil you could ever want. There was a surplus of clean towels and sheets. The house had a really cool 1920s decor with creaky stairs and a billiards room etc. Would definitely recommend this for a large group. The host was kind and attentive...only two blocks from the Plaza. The pictures on the VRBO site do not do it justice...the owner needs to add more photos and description of what you're getting.
This property looks NOTHING like the photos in the listing. Those were clearly taken years ago. When we arrived, the property was NOT clean. There was hair and a used razor in one of the showers, toothpaste in the sinks, crumbs all over the kitchen counter, and the fridge was covered in grime. The property manager would not respond to our messages asking about whether the cleaners had come. The state of the property was so bad that we ended up leaving to stay at a hotel. Thankfully we were able to receive a refund. While the area the house is in is lovely, this listing is NOT worth it.
Great house for all of our group. Plenty of space and the pool table was well enjoyed.

Large, good location, but old and dated
Property is really getting outdated with many cosmetic issues like walls and ceilings with large cracks, water spots, paint badly chipped, carpet stains, broken window shades, mirrors with cracks, chairs missing one arm rest, etc. The pictures of this property are extremely old and do not represent it's current state which should be updated.
The communal spaces are comfortable with modern TVs and decent couches but most of the rest of the house feels worn out. It's got a nice location with lots of space and beds though.
The owner was there when we arrived at 7PM trying to clean things which was surprising given the time. He seemed nice enough, just wasn't expecting him to be there working.
Wonderfully spacious property, easily accessible. Very well appointed kitchen with everything needed. Large spaces accommodated our extended family with gathering spaces, as well as, space to get away. Great dining room with an awesome pool table across the way.
We all enjoyed our stay at the Laura Nelson Honeymoon Cottage. The house is an older home with lots of character, and plenty of room for our group to spread out. It is right across the street from a beautiful sculpture garden and museum, and a short walk to the Country Club Plaza area with plenty of restaurants and shopping. Greg was a wonderful host, very responsive, and gave us a great history of the house. Thank you!
What a huge house and amazing accomodations. Fantastic access to the plaza and Westport. Greg was great to work with and the gigantic patio was a great place to hang out in the sun!
Great place for a large group - plenty of beds and lots of great communal areas. Our host was incredibly accommodating and made our stay very enjoyable!
The house was great for a group of 12 guys on our annual weekend trip. Plenty of space, kitchen well stocked, large patio, and multiple places in the house to gather. Location is great across the street from the museum and a few blocks from the Plaza neighborhood. Everyone in the group gave it two thumbs up.
This house was absolutely perfect for our party of 14! Planning a bachelorette party can be stressful, especially when we wanted to all stay together - but the host made the entire process so easy and was beyond accommodating. Even better we were allowed to decorate which was truly surprising given the grandeur of the home. Thanks to the host our entire stay was perfect! Would highly recommend!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Laura Nelson House. Our large group fit comfortably into this charming old home and the layout was perfect for gathering, both inside and out. Everything we needed (and more!) was provided. Extremely well-stocked kitchen and and lots of space for cooking, flower arranging (we were in town for a wedding), and hanging out. A bonus was the Nelson-Atkins Museum across the street with free entry. We came with 5 vehicles, and were able to park them in the driveway while road work was completed on the side street. Greg, our host, was helpful and gave a tour of the house upon arrival. Highly recommend this home!
We were a group of 10 who used all 6 bedrooms to attend a family wedding. The location near the Nelson-Atkins Museum and a short walk to the Plaza was great. Our host provided us with coffee and waters and many conveniences. Our group enjoyed mornings on the large deck and playing pool. Parking was great. Nice area to walk around and very quiet.
