Quaint, peaceful spot

It was a lovely spot so close to hiking and shops. We enjoyed a quiet retreat away from the kids!

Wonderful Stay!

This was an amazing stay! Perfect for my partner and I’s vacation. 1) The location is beautiful. The area is way up in the mountains next to a babbling creak, which has different porch swings and fire pits off the banks that are free to enjoy. (the bugs are pretty brutal down there, but with a fire roaring and some bug spray, it isn’t too bad. also make sure to close the front door pretty fast to keep these bugs out of the house.) The scenery of the rolling mountains and forestry is unavoidable whenever you’re driving, and the for how rural it seems, the location only adds about 20 minutes in whatever direction you are wanting to go to. The drive was so beautiful that the couple extra minutes really is no friction. Downtown Asheville itself is only a 30 minute drive. 2) The cleanliness of the cabin was a huge relief. I’m personally a real neat freak, and was so glad to see that everything was so tidy and CLEAN! I did see previous comments about dog smell and can confirm that the cabin had no traces of this during our stay. Not only that, but the place does have a broom and swifter mop, along with other cleaning supplies under the sink. There are a lot of extra sheets left out to change the bed if you feel the need, the bathroom was spotless, and the couch was super comfy and clean. This made my heart so happy! Having such a tidy place to stay really helped me feel like this was our little home for the week. 3) The tv, dvd player, and wifi all worked awesome. The property manager had actually had a new wifi router installed the day of our check in! We could connect all of our devices and use them at any place in the house. We had no issues with the wifi entire week. 4) The property manager was super nice and made sure that we were enjoying our stay during the week. Super fast and reliable communication. I got the sense that they really cared about making our stay comfortable and was there if we had any issues. This was very reassuring, especially given that we were so far from home and the area was so foreign to us! Amazing and kind guest service!

Enjoyable

Overall great experience, good location, quite and peaceful. Cabin was nice, was disappointed when I couldn't find the back porch, my fault, I should have read more carefully, porch, grill and outdoor kitchen are not really assessable, that is some what miss leading. Large eye on the stove is inoperative. Sink in bathroom has no hot water. Only real problem was that cabin had not been cleaned, dirty towel in shower, trash in kitchen, and the bed had not been changed..... I contacted the manager Heidi, who apologized, and was there within the hour to correct the problem, she was very nice and took care of everything including refunding our first night... Suggestions: Make it clear that back porch and outdoor kitchen are not readily assessable, you should put hooks under shelf in kitchen and hang pots and pans.

Wonderful stay! Love being on the Rocky Broad in Bat Cave!

This cabin is adorably cute and very quaint. We loved our stay here. Most people like vacationing in mountain homes but we prefer being at river level, and the Rocky Broad is one of our favorite rivers. They did a great job renovating this cabin. The couch is SUPER comfy, and so is the bedroom; however, the bed is just a very small full-size bed, so it will fit only one person or two small people. We absolutely love the front porch and the rocking chairs, the firepit, the swing and the little bridge to the swing. We read a prior review that mentioned "dog smell" but we did not smell pet odor at all; if anything, it was just the age of the cabin because the cabin is obviously old. The only reason we don't give it 5 stars is because of the following: 1) there is NO door to the bedroom; we had to hang a blanket over it. We recommend adding bi-fold doors to at least close it off and give some privacy. 2) the bathroom door does not shut complete nor does it lock and thus because of that and there being no bedroom door, there is minimal privacy 3) the front door's bolt does NOT fit into the groove and thus does not lock, although there is the keypad lock. However, we would've preferred to have been able to also bolt the lock, and we had to scoot the antiquated desk and chair in front of the door just for peace of mind (from bears and people!). 4) they do mention the wifi is "spotty' but we could not stay connected to wifi on our smart phones, and we could only stayed connected to it on our laptop at the kitchen table. We did not find a router, cable modem nor extender in the cabin, so if one was missing from the cabin, if they were to add an extender in the cabin, that would help with the wifi connectivity. Our cabin favorites: 1) the view of the Rocky Broad!! 2) the porch and rocking chairs! 3) the sparkly star light on the porch! 4) the comfiness of the bed and couch 5) it's in Bat Cave, NC and who would not want to lodge in a town called Bat Cave!! 6) the cleanliness of the cabin 7) the cuteness of the cabin decor 8) the age of the cabin (wish there was something posted inside that talked about the history of the cabin) 9) the price! 10) the location! Right next to Chimney Rock, Lake Lure and just 20 minutes from Hendersonville and 30 minutes from Dupont State Forest Overall, a GREAT place to stay

Cute but smelly

The property worked for our quick get-away. We didn't spend much time there and just needed somewhere to sleep while kayaking the rivers in the area. It is PET Friendly - and very much smelled like it. When we left, we could still smell pets on us and all of our belongings. We did enjoy the view and water running past the front porch area. The grilling area (in the pictures) and pool table area is actually a common area/garage on the adjoining property that we were not able to access. We saw someone pulling their motorcycle into and out of the garage area. It seemed more like their personal garage.
