About this property

Casa Amarillo, waterfront home

Casa Amarillo is a private oceanfront house on the family island of Eleuthera, Bahamas. Eleuthera greets its visitors with pink sand, crystal clear waters, and very little traffic. The island is 120 miles long, and offers lots of places to explore, and the locals are very friendly. This is a one of a kind place.
Casa Amarillo comes fully equipped for all of your basic needs. Special features include a back deck with lounge chairs, a waterfront palapas, air-conditioning, satellite TV and wireless internet. Just bring your own computer.* (Note: the entire island has some phone/internet problems, so no guarantees on their use.) . We have a washer and dryer for renters' use upstairs in the separate laundry room. All linens are provided, and the kitchen has all basic appliances including a microwave & coffee pot. For dining we offer a breakfast bar and a round dining table with 4 chairs.
The front of the property has many fruit trees, that are loaded with papaya, avocado & mango during their peak seasons.
The house is located along the coral rock that extends around the corner from the coveted pink sands of Ten Bay beach. The house shares a secluded 3 acre lot with Casa Amarillo (our families other property, both available for rent), offering privacy for guests and a cove that offers visitors an easy access to crystal clear waters. The island offers great fishing, snorkeling, diving trips, kayaking and boating. You can find tour guides easily on Eleuthera!
The Governors Harbour library offers book exchanges and WiFi/internet packages as well.
Eleuthera offers water taxi access to both Harbour Island and/or Spanish Wells. Traveling North to get to either island, you will pass over the Looking Glass bridge. A must stop for great photos of the cliffs and the joining of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. The house is conveniently located in the middle (the elbow) of the island which makes it convenient for exploring both ends of this 100 mile island. Each community offers unique restaurants and shopping. The Southern end of the island has Tarpum Bay (fresh seafood from the docks), Rock Sound (Blue Hole and nice shopping center), Cape Eleuthera and the pristine Lighthouse Beach (4-wheel drive or a tour guide is recommended for this one) at the southern tip of Eleuthera.
Directions to the house: Travel on Queens Highway, travel 14 miles south of Governor's Harbour airport; roughly 4 miles south of Palmetto Point. After your pass a small sub-station with transformers enclosed in a chain-link fence (on you right), the road to Ten Bay development will be on your right (about 1.5 or less miles). On right, look for sign that has property owners listed. Follow that road for about 1 mile until the road forks at a light pole. Take the left hand fork, up the hill. The property will be on the right at the top of the hill, it has a low stone wall on both sides of the drive way. Just take the driveway until it forks & then take the right hand fork. This will take you to Casa Amarillo.
Rental cars are highly recommended as the closest grocery & restaurants are 4-5 miles away, and the larger selection of stores & other towns are 10+ miles.
The island of Eleuthera offers 3 airports. Governors Harbor (GHB) is in the center of the island and only about a 20 minute drive to our home. We ask that you try to fly into this airport so that our caretaker can meet you upon your arrival and escort you to the house. The other 2 airports are Rock Sound Airport (RSD) at the Southend of the island, and North Eleuthera Airport (ELH) at the North End. Both are about 1 hour away from the house. All 3 airports have some strange schedules, so be sure to look at available flights when you are deciding on what days to book the rental home. Some people have to switch days of the rental to accommodate the flight schedules…we’re totally used to it.
Looking for an extended family-reunion type of vacation? Consider renting Playa de Papaya and Casa Amarillo (#147029) together. They are on adjacent lots, each with a 120 foot ocean frontage. The cost for either property is the same, base rate of $1100/week per house. For $2200 you get two houses with a total of four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and accommodates up to 10 people.

If you want peace, beauty, and relaxation, Eleuthera has it all!

Great location!
It’s ok..dated home set 100 steps from calm warm waters! We watched turtles shark stingrays every day. Ten bay beach right around corner we could kayak there but had no paddles small patio at water front where we spent morning coffee just enough for two under small shade cabana, palms falling off. home is desperate need of updates my husband took apart window screen so that he could reach through to close adjacent window from outside, inside crank did not work, screens doors aged do not keep bugs out. One chair on deck broken. We didn’t cook but once bleached everything first just felt dated and questionable. Beds omg I would rather sleep on floor and as far as bedding just awful. This home has GREAT potential with its pretty walk way to water, with some $$ from renters set aside for new furniture bedding maybe kitchen update it would be 5+rating nice to have bathroom with shower for each bedroom, common area floor was so clean sparkled a/c worked perfectly and there is s plenty hot water showers laundry area we used often Supplies ample and like I said location great .. if updated I would definitely return

Fantastic property!
We ended up staying at the playas de papas (the other waterfront property with same host. Rodney was great, he picked us up at airport and dropped us off too. We rented a car from him. This was waterfront, it was amazing to wake up to the sounds of the ocean, kayak over to ten bay beach and run on the beach. The view was breathtaking. Our stay was fantastic, we will definitely return. The house is quite spartan, you have to get your own coffee, soap etc. The WiFi worked throughout. All in all, we enjoyed staying here.

Nice location, poorly maintaned
This property turned to be rather a letdown. The upside was the fact that it has an amazing deck, luscious garden and very nice little rocky beach. The surroundings are pleasant and the place would have a lot of potential if it were maintained properly. We did expect it to be a basic, no frills accommodation, but we’re were not prepared for how run down and unkempt the place turned out to be. We were lucky enough to find alternative accommodation, informed the house caretaker and moved out as soon as we were able on the 3rd morning. Doors and windows are old and no longer close properly: letting both bugs and humidity in. Our clothes became damp hanging in the closet with hours. The mold is apparent in both the bathrooms and the kitchen cupboards. Very little effort is spent to maintain the place. For example, the ceiling fans are rusting with rust falling from them while in use. Half of the wall sockets don’t function. Only 1/3 of the bulbs were in their fixtures and working, old ones never replaced - basically of the 6 bulbs in the ceiling lights only two worked. There was only one small bulb in the kitchen area, making it hard too see anything. The kitchen drawers were filled with a jumble of old utensils making it hard to find what’s needed to prepare a meal. Kitchen appliances were old and poorly maintained. The fridge was rusted and the door seal so broken that it did not close properly any more. To keep things cold the fridge settings had been set so low that our food froze on the top shelves and dripping condensation created pools of water on items. The kitchen cabinets were full of old crockery, and the shelves were covered with sticky dust and crumbs. In the bedroom, the floor under the beds was dirty and we had to wash the shelves to lay out our clothes. On a positive note the laundry room had well working appliances and probably thanks to the drier was the least humid and most pleasant room despite being tiny and having no windows (so not really possible to spend any time in). In the master bedroom there is a floor trap door that leads to the water cistern directly below. This smelled of damp and the noise of draining water made it difficult to sleep in. The septic tank in the garden below was overflowing and the smell was overwhelming. To make matters worse a new house was being built on the property just next to us with all the noise that one would expect.

Beautiful view
Great property with a great view of the Carribean. A short walk to the ocean, great snorkeling, conviently located near Palmeto and a short drive to Governors Harbor. I would stay there again. Great communications as well.

Amazing place and views!
This property was fantastic! Right on the water with great views. Our favorite part was the private path to the water through a sort of mini jungle...very cool!! Complete privacy...there are some houses somewhat nearby but the way the house sits with the vegetation you can't see them and they can't see you. Loved watching sunset from up on the deck every night. I think it may be unusual but saw lots of lightning bugs too!! The house itself has everything you need and is like the pictures, though it actually seems a bit bigger in person. Highly recommend and the house caretaker Rodney took great care of us!

We had a wonderful time. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. Rodney was very nice and checked in on us. We enjoyed sitting down by the beautiful blue water. The double kayak was great and it was a short paddle over to Ten Bay. Thank you for everything.

Loved everything about this property. Nice to be on the water and up in the trees for spectacular views and easy access for kayaking! Caroline (owner) and Rodney (caretaker) were both awesome !

Rodney is the best!
Rodney is the caretaker and rented us a car. I got a flat tire one day (my fault) and I changed it, but Rodney was able to bring a new tire on the wheel the very next morning. Amazing. He was also able to get us everything else we needed. The house has a nice view of the ocean, but it is not right on the coast. Ten Bay beach is absolutely beautiful. It is a long walk, or short drive away along the road. The A/C was good, and the unit was very spacious with all the amenities one would want. Eleuthera is wonderful. You can find a mile-long beach to have all to yourself almost every direction you go. A car is a must, but Rodney is there to provide!

Absolutely amazing !!
This place is truly perfect !! We will absolutely be back to stay here again. Centrally located on the island and literally right on the water you can’t beat it. You feel so secluded from everything, it’s almost like your in your own little hideaway. A path off of the back steps takes you too an amazing snorkeling spot where we saw dolphins, fish, stingrays etc..I 100 percent recommend anyone staying to make sure you have a rental vehicle, doesn’t make sense to stay here if you don’t. Takes about 5 minutes to get to queens HWY off the rocky road from the house, which didn’t bother us at all. We were able to explore the entire island without driving from one end to the other and back, location again was ideal and perfect. You can rent kayak’s from Rodney the care taker and he literally brings it too your door !! We had an amazing time and can’t wait to come back !!!

Good!
Noce location in the middle of the island, 15 minutes by car from Governor’s Harbour. Kitchen complete of everything, 2 bedroom with private toilet. You can see the sea from the big Balcony. There is not the beach in front, but the beautiful Ten Bay Beach is 2 minutes far from the house.

Great quiet cottage in Central Eleuthera
We really enjoyed our stay in Casa Amarillo. The house was simple, clean and comfortable, with a fully stocked kitchen, movies and board games to enjoy the evenings. Even though there isn't access to a beach directly in front, Ten Bay beach is a really short drive away, and the water front accessed from the house is quiet and affords a beautiful view. Water shoes would be perfect to walk over the small span of rocks and swim in the quiet bay. We only lacked soap and ran out of toilet paper, but Mr. Pinder was easy to contact and very helpful in arranging arrivals, a car rental and anything required for the house.

A family vacation rental you will never forget!!!
This is an awesome house!!! We stayed at Casa Amarillo for a week over the summer. You have seclusion; a beautiful ocean view; and you are just a walkway from the water. Imagine just walking down to the water to snorkel whenever you want. You never know what you will find next!!! It is always an adventure!!! The house had plenty of space for our family of 5, and has everything you need for a great vacation. Casa Amarillo is also located so that you can check out many restaurants, shops, sites and beautiful beaches within a short drive in either direction on the Island of Eleuthera. Don't miss out on a vacation of a lifetime!!! :)
