About this property

Country Double En-Suite

The word 'standard' doesn't really do justice to these lovely cottage styled rooms in Swallow Barn.

This is a double en-suite room decorated in a classic and calming duck egg blue and cream - traditional, clean and cosy. The bed is a comfortable standard double with a nice deep mattress. In additional to central heating an all seasons duvet choice will keep you just right - not too hot, not too cold. If you really do feel the cold there are plenty of spare blankets and throws available if you really want to snuggle up.

Flat screen Smart TV's with capability to log into your own online streaming accounts. Touch lighting on both sides of the bed, complementary beverage tray with various teas, coffees hot chocolate and biscuits. If you want something a little more decadent our very own seasonal Tea Room is just a few steps away where you can enjoy barista made coffees, tea and homemade cakes, lunches or afternoon teas. Please check if we are open prior to arrival.

The en-suite is equipped with a walk in shower, wash basin, WC and premium toiletries that you are very welcome to use whilst here. Also included are shower hats, shoe shines and a mending kit should you have a last minute wardrobe malfunction!

Views are beautiful and are across open countryside towards the Mendip Hills, home of Wookey Hole Caves and Cheddar Gorge. As both standard double rooms are in Swallow Barn, it has it's own guest lounge that you are very welcome to use whilst staying here.

Going forward we have looked closely at how we will be running the B&B. From a Covid point of view, most guests still prefer us to not go into their rooms during their stay. In order for us to keep prices fair we have kept our nightly room rate the same with no Housekeeping. If guests would like Housekeeping to service their room during their stay this can be prebooked at the cost of £10 per service. Stays of over 4 nights will automatically be offered a complementary room Service as standard.
Our seasonal licensed Tea Room serves delicious home-baked goodies and beverages. We also offer our BBQ Hut for private hire in the evenings, which would be a memorable experience for guests staying at Double-Gate Farm.

The farmhouse's ground floor areas are wheelchair accessible, and the Master en-suite is on the first floor. Our Riverside Rooms are all located on the ground floor, extra large, and have a patio facing south over the river, ceiling fans, refrigeration, and super big wet rooms. They are ideal for couples, families, and groups with flexible and spacious options.

We have additional cottage-style en-suite rooms located in Swallow Barn, including cosy doubles and an accessible ground-floor twin. Although Swallow Barn is no longer inspected by Visit England Assessment Services for B&B purposes, our other B&B accommodations remain in the scheme. It is still inspected by the AA for B&B and Self-Catering purposes to ensure that it remains at a high standard.

If you plan to holiday with your dog, kindly call us before booking to confirm the availability of our two dog-friendly rooms. We do not allow pets in rooms that are not designated as pet-friendly.

Excellent stay in lovely farm b&b

This B&B was slightly more expensive than we would usually pay, but they made a real effort to provide a comfortable and sustainable stay for us. There was a bag for our recycling which I have never had in other accommodation before, there were solar panels on our building, and the fruit salad at breakfast was fresh and absolutely delicious. Thanks very much to our hosts for going out of their way to provide a wonderful stay.

Return to bliss

Two nights, we were at Double Gate 12 years ago and thought maybe returning would not be the same, but it was even better, the place has only changed a Little but for the better, countryside lovely, my daughter and I both love Glastonbury and have been meaning to return for years, the town hasn´t changed, all very charming,Chalice Well, very meaningful and the climb to the Tor, breathtaking.

We would be very hard pushed to better what we had at Double Gate Farm.

A very relaxed break in a most wonderful quiet environment, a real getaway from it all. Terry made us very welcome and could not have been more hospitable, also the staff. The breakfast choice was unbelievable and of a very high standard beautifully cooked. The room was spacious, clean and generally very pleasant. In fact we could not fault a single thing and would not hesitate in recommending this wonderful B&B to anyone

Highly recommend our comfortable stay, delicious breakfast and very accommodating host.

The room had everything you could need, including a magnifying mirror for me! Delicious home made cake and a very comfortable bed. Our tasty breakfast was freshly cooked to order and Debbie was happy to delay it until we got back from our early morning bird watching. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

What a wonderful weekend break.

My wife and I arrived on the Saturday and were greeted with a very friendly owner and her staff. We were immediately offered a complementary cup of coffee in their tea rooms. We were then shown to our room which was a good size well decorated and very clean. After we had some lunch we explored the area and went to visit my son near Cheddar. When we got back we on the balcony next to the tea rooms we watched the fish in the river next to the balcony and soaked in the quiet and peaceful atmosphere
