About this property

Raven. Off grid/remote island retreat. Featuring friendly locals, a garden haven

A lovely cottage overlooking Shoal Bay and the ocean and mountains beyond. A century ago Shoal Bay was a bustling logging and mining boom town and home to over 5,000 people. Hosts Cynthia and Mark are now the only residents and share the breathtaking surroundings with visitors from around the world. The large government dock is busy with visiting boaters throughout the summer and the local waters team with trophy salmon, crab, prawns, and cod. A truly magical sanctuary.

Piece of heaven in the Wlderness

Spent a couple of days at Shoal Bay with my 15 year old son and left with an experience of a lifetime. The view were gorgeous, weather great - even when it rained! Mark and Cynthia were amazing hosts. Made us feel at home right away. Mark laughed at all my jokes. My son and I fished, crabbed, kayaked, cooked, read, played with the Bernese-Pyrenees Tulip, watched a bear at close but safe range, picked berries, and read. Perfect! There is a an actual licensed pub on the property where the boaters who were moored at Shoal Bay dropped by for a pint or three and swap stories. The pub and ambiance by itself would have sold me. But everything else made this a trip we will remember for a long long time. thanks Mark, Cynthia, Will, Pavel and Daniella! Jude
