We stayed for 3 nights in early January, and really enjoyed ourselves. It's a lovely little cottage and offered all we needed for a simple, quiet holiday. It was a cold weekend and the plug in heaters were necessary as well as the heating. We liked the idea of using the fire but hadn't anticipated that we'd need to bring or buy in the logs or coal. On the Sunday evening there was a power cut in the village, the owners had thoughtfully provided a couple of battery operated lights, so we were fine for the couple of hours. The village is lovely and I recommend food at the Captain Cook pub, the Cod and Lobster, and Dotty's Tea Room. We also walked part of the Cleveland Way to Runswick Bay which took us approximately 1.5 hours. It was stunning and just lovely.

Beck view review

We have contacted the owner about the extremely difficult key, at one point having to leave premises unlocked, poor heating, lack of cleanliness we had to scrub saucepans and oven door before use, and dangerous cooking platform. The owner was very apologetic, had not been to check for a couple of months. We will not be going again, or use Urbo,.
