Peaceful Short Break

Excellent property located in a quiet and peaceful location. Exceptionally clean, and well-equipped. Ideal for those who want a relaxing break in the countryside, whilst being relatively close to sights and shops.

Warm welcome, cosy cottage, beautiful surroundings :)

We are just home from 4 fantastic nights at Millers Cottage! Such a warm welcome from Vicki, and a great welcome pack of local produce in the cottage along with basket full of logs and everything you could possibly need for a cosy, relaxing stay! Beautiful, peaceful surroundings, plenty of space for our two boys to run around and lovely peaceful sitting areas to look out over the sunsets! Great location for exploring Northumberland - highly recommend! Thank you so much Vicki! :) x

Beautiful cottage in an amazing location

Miller's cottage is beautiful, really well decorated and was impeccably clean on arrival. We had a lovely welcome basket waiting for us and there was everything in the cottage you could want in a home from home. Vicki is a friendly and welcoming host who was there if we needed anything and was happy to recommend places to visit

A perfect and immaculate little cottage in idyllic countryside

We were greeted on arrival by Vicki and shown to the cottage. We were given a thorough explanation of the basics and instructions were left on the dining table for everything else. A lovely basket of goodies was left for us on the table, including milk, teabags, coffee jam, eggs and even some sweets! Our stay was perfect, with just the right level of communication from Vicki to ensure a pleasant stay. Surrounding countryside and views are out of this world!

The Millers Cottage and The Granary was the former house of the Miller that worked the water driven Corn Mill and land around us, set within the grounds of Holburn Mill Farmhouse. Financially more successful, the farmhouse was then built in 1894; we don’t have an actual date that the cottage was built but it’s at least 130 years since it was lived in. Slightly less comfy than it is today, and with fewer people, as the census information suggested that at least 8 people lived in Millers Cottage! The original range in the living room of Millers Cottage will have seen some action from cooking, heating to water warming. I wonder how many bare bottoms it’s seen over the years when the tin bath was in front of it! 2018 planning permission was granted, and work began in 2019, the entire building needed to be gutted from the roof to the floors. 2019 saw a year of building work, bringing electricity and water to it for the first time, and introducing modern comforts like heating and bathrooms. Opening our doors to guests for the first time in June 2020, I welcome you to enjoy your time with us and hope you enjoy the seclusion that we offer.
