Everything you need, also for a longer stay, is available and functional. Everyday-shopping in foot distance. Hosts Mark and Fiona helpfull and very nice. Cottage small and authentic, no view.

Delightful.

Absolutely adorable little cottage, spotlessly clean and a lovely welcome pack. Nice area with lovely walks and great pubs. The only negative is lack of parking however, that is all outlined in the description when booking, so we were aware of it. Fantastic communications with the owners/managers. Very competitively priced, we would definitely book again.

A Room With a View

It is a lovely cottage and ideally situated for visiting other parts of Cornwall but it is up an incline and there were no views from any of the windows.

Poor location ie no parking facility

Advertised with enclosed garden which was a small wooden floored area and not a very pleasant place to sit and relax. The parking was terrible no where to park had to find a long stay car park for overnight parking every day which was costly.

Late break in Newlyn

Never been to Newlyn - but was looking for a 4 night break in Cornwall. Great communication by owners before we arrived and found the property easily from their instructions. Beautiful cottage for 2 adults. Couldn’t fault it.

Quirky Cottage

Lovely clean and well equiped fishermans cottage in the heart of Newlyn. Well positioned for exploring the southern most tip of Cornwell, with some nice cafe, pubs and restaurants on your door step. Within walking distance of Penzance for a nice evening stroll.

Kara Cottagge.

The cottage tucked away at the end of a lane near the harbour exceeded its online photos. The place was spotless and comfortable. Its Newlyn a real place with real people and not over run with us tourists. An ideal base to explore all West Cornwall has to offer. Use the bus service instead of driving. Well done Mark and Fiona.

A perfect location

When we arrived at the cottage first impressions were excellent. It is in a central but quiet location in Newlyn which has added interest because it is a large working port as well as a holiday location. The cottage was spotless, tastefully decorated and had everything we needed including a very comfortable bed. The location is perfect if you want to explore West Penrith as anywhere on the peninsula is in easy reach. There is also a surprising good bus service too if you want to abandon your car. We had a short 3 night break and came home very happy and feeling we had had a marvellous time, full of a great variety of activities.

Cornish born and bred, both Fi and I have a passion for the beautiful County of Cornwall and love nothing better than sharing our knowledge of go-to destinations and secret spots with our guests.

Truck House has been our family home for over 24 years, and when our two daughters flew the nest, we couldn’t bring ourselves to part with it - so, we decided to share our lovely home with others. Over the past 5 years, we have had the pleasure of hosting guests from all corners of the world. So enjoyable has it been, we have now expanded the business with the addition of the Coach House Studio, Kara Cottage and Winslow Cottage.

When time allows and when not hosting guests, we love nothing more than jumping in our campervan with our two springer spaniels, Belle and Bryher, in search of perfect waves and wildlife. Cornwall has so much to offer that we rarely stray from her shores but, on occasion, we do and in recent years have visited Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, Spain and Portugal. We look for something special from the places we stay in and know our visitors will too.

We want our guests to have a wonderful experience, to relax, unwind and feel at home. We are always striving to improve and welcome your feedback to help us grow. So, live life to the full and enjoy Luxury Cornish Escapes!

We look forward to welcoming you soon

Best wishes,
Mark and Fi.

Why they chose this property

Kara Cottage is a delightful, former fisherman's cottage located in the old quarter of Newlyn known as The Fradgan made famous by the Newlyn School of Art, and gives you access by foot to everything the town has to offer.

What makes this property unique

This rustic, romantic property is perfect for couples looking for a blissful break away from everyday life, or bring your little one as the dressing room can accommodate a travel cot, which can be supplied. From the cottage, you're free to explore the often hidden lanes of Newlyn with their cottages, colourful yards and alleyways, getting a little bit lost is part of the fun.

With plenty of Cornish cottage charm, Kara Cottage is well placed for exploring, The Duke Street Cafe is great for breakfast if you're not in the mood to cook and you're just steps away from great pubs (do try the Crab Soup at the Red Lion), the very popular Tolcarne Inn and Mackerel Sky or the Coastguards at Mousehole. Spread your wings to the rest of the Peninsula. Lands End is roughly 20 mins by car, so the beaches at Sennen and Porthcurno are easily accessible and Mousehole and Lamorna are also just a short drive away. The coast path leading to Penzance makes for a lovely evening walk (but isn't too challenging). The area has an array of ancient monuments, cosy cafes and stunning views, so take your time to explore. Kara Cottage is only moments from a gym and West Cornwall Inner Space which is a yoga and meditation centre. For a great way to see the local area, the cottage is on the route for the open top bus (running May to September) that will take you in a circle that includes Lands End and St Ives, making exploration incredibly easy by bus too.
