The cottage was built back in the 1850s as a home for a local fisherman, by the well-respected Quakers who looked after the mining communities and lived here as this area was known as the Iron Valley. The mines were once the powerhouse of the Industrial Revolution and the British Empire. Dispatching iron worldwide, forming the fabric of railways and bridges across continents around the world. You can visit the local mining museum to find out more about the local history and how it shaped the landscape. Now the area is more popular with holiday makers as well as walkers enjoying the beautiful coastal and moorland trails.
