About this property

Sandbanks (for dolphin watching). Spectacular views across the whole bay.

Sandbanks sits in a prime location, overlooking Newbiggin Bay which can be seen in its entirety from the house. With its open and light, modern, welcoming, sociable living space downstairs it is the perfect entertaining / family space. From there you can enjoy spectacular big sky views and the chance to spot surfers and / or dolphins right in front of the house. The house was completely renovated to a high standard just 3 years ago and therefore provides contemporary facilities. The kitchen sits at the back of the open plan layout and includes a dishwasher as well as full cooking appliances and a wine fridge in addition to a fridge/freezer. There is a washing machine housed in a laundry room off the back yard. Sleeping accommodation upstairs provides a master bedroom and the privacy of two other bedrooms, each with a single bed with very comfortable pillows and bedding, with high quality linen you have every chance of sleeping sound. Towels are also provided. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with a floor level tray.

Lovely stay by the sea
The location is superb right on the water. The house is lovely and had everything we needed! We had a slight issue gaining access, but the host was very responsive and helpful, so it was resolved immediately. Would definitely recommend and stay again, our toddler didn't want to leave!

Great base to explore Northumberland
We loved our stay in Newbiggin. The host was very responsive to our requests and provided good local knowledge of places to eat and visit. Property has been modernised recently and is in great condition.

Perfect home away from home. We were able to visit family and friends as well as a few day trips. Enjoyed shopping in town. Thank you for your kindness. Tom and Julia

Holiday week
Very nice property, was very clean and we enjoyed our stay. John's communication was excellent. Just could of done with a small bin in each bedroom and there was only 1 dishwasher tablet but these are only minor things but holiday and house was very adequate for our stay at Newbiggin on the sea. We even spotted dolphins from the bedroom window. Parking was ok on the road outside. 5 stars given. Kevin and family

Comfy stay right on the beach
First time in Newbiggin and enjoyed it, the town has plenty of resources- a corner shop just round the corner and pubs, takeaways, cafes and a couple of restaurants, a small craft ale bar too. There’s going to be a new bar/café opening any day now just over the road down on the beach which will be handy (and as it’s low down shouldn’t cause any problems). The house was as described, newly done out, well equipped with comfy beds and an unblocked sea view. We used it as a base for exploring the area. Managed to park outside the house with no problems (one of the next door neighbours didn’t seem to have a car so we were able to park a second car there).

Flawless
So, where to start. The cleanest property we have ever rented, everything pristine from teaspoon to bedding. Brilliantly equipped, well laid out and comfortable too. We chose partly for the seaview, which we even better than we had hoped. Lovely walk along the prom to the village centre. We even saw the Bottle-nosed Dolphins on a couple of occasions. Can't wait to return.

Heather and I live locally in Morpeth - about ten miles inland from Newbiggin. Heather is originally from the North-East and when I came up with her from London to live here 24 years ago I was sold. It's a great quality of life in a beautiful part of the country. We also have a cottage in Beadnell, further up the coast, where Heather 'grew up'. To us, Northumberland is all about the coast but don't neglect the beautiful natural countryside - that is equally beautiful.

Why they chose this property

We bought this as a 'fixer-upper' intent on having it ready for last year's season. Then Covid struck and everything was put on hold for a year. In a way it worked in our favour as we didn't have to rush to get it finished and we had time to enjoy ourselves for a short while and to get the finishing touches right.

The location is stunning. The views from the front windows are breathtaking - no photograph could do it justice. Situated on a very quiet, low traffic one-way residential street overlooking the beach, there is still so much to see - whether it is just watching the strollers, the surfers or if you're lucky; the large pod of dolphins that frequently pass this way, often stopping for a feed not that far out.

What makes this property unique

The whole open plan living area downstairs is dominated by the panoramic sea views through the large bay window. The king size master and a single bedroom to the front of the property also enjoy elevated sea views. Situated at the southern end, views sweep north around the bay to Church Point
