About this property

Host & Stay | The Stable

Summary:
The Stable is a welcoming holiday home nestled in the charming village of Folkton near Scarborough. Just five miles from the seaside resort of Filey, you can enjoy the award winning beach and the historic promenade. Sleeping up to four guests across two bedrooms, The Stable is perfect for group getaways and family staycations. Boasting free on site parking and an outdoor space, you’ll have everything you could need for a relaxing break in Folkton.

The Space:
The Stable has a spacious open plan kitchen diner. Modern in style, the kitchen has high shine, oxblood cabinets with integrated appliances. Fully equipped for self-catering stays, you’ll have full use of the oven, hob, coffee maker, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. The dining area has a wooden dining table and matching oxblood, leather chairs.

The living area is located upstairs and here you’ll find three comfy sofas and a flat screen TV. Ample space for the whole family, you can enjoy a cosy night together and watch your favourite shows on Freeview.

Both bedrooms at The Stable are tranquil and spacious. The ideal setup for families, the master bedroom has a king bed and the second room is a twin. Both bedrooms boast premium bedding and en suite bathrooms.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.

There is private parking available at the property for up to two cars.

The Neighborhood:
The Stable is located in the small village of Folkton, less than five miles from Filey and a short 15 minute drive to Scarborough. Steeped in history, the village was home to carvings from the Stone Age now known as the ‘Folkton Drums’.

A short 10 minute drive will bring you to Filey. Filey was voted ‘Beach of the Year’ in 2018 and it’s easier to see why. With five miles of stretching sandy shores and beautiful views, it has everything you could want from a seaside getaway. Surprisingly though, Filey is quieter than most coastal resorts so you can enjoy a relaxed break away from the hustle and bustle. Enjoy traditional fish and chips, walks along the historic promenade or take a trip to Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park which little ones will love.

You can also visit Scarborough easily during your stay. Packed with seaside charm, you’ll find plenty of pubs, restaurants and cafes to discover as well as arcades and ice cream parlours. Ideal for all weathers, there are lots of indoor attractions in Scarborough for the whole family. Head to Sea Life Sanctuary to see seals, penguins, sharks, turtles and more or Scarborough Castle to explore its 3000 year history. If it’s outdoor fun you’re looking for, The Open Air Theatre is a short 20 minute walk from the house where you can see amazing bands, singers and comedians.

Getting Around:
The Stable is within walking distance of everything Folkton has to offer and within 15 minutes’ drive time of Filey and Scarborough.

The closest train station is located in Scarborough and has routes to Bridlington and Driffield. A number of connecting routes can also be found from these stations so getting to other locations around the UK could not be easier.

Interaction with Guests:
We’re always available for our guests so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

A relaxing holiday venue.

The Stable Cottage was clean and well appointed with all the appliances a family would need. However, we think it would have been a bit cramped for four or more people. The WiFi was also very unreliable and the TV only offered a few channels on Freeview. We also had a loose toilet seat, which although reported was never fixed. The garden we were allowed to use was overgrown and very uninviting - with a scruffy fountain that wasn't working. The garden furniture was also locked away in a summerhouse with no key. The courtyard was strewn with moss, leaves etc which was constantly being walked into the cottage. However, we did have a relaxing, quiet stay although I think the Stable Cottage needs a little work to bring it up to a luxury standard.
