We have travelled here every year for about 3 years, but this time the smell of cat litter boxes was overwhelming. I brought plug ins based off of reviews I had read just in case. The bathroom tub had not been cleaned at all. There was a dirty ring around tub along with hair in the drain. It was supposed to be our last visit and we were really looking forward to it but it was really disappointing.
This property was within a mile of a larger home where the rest of our multigenerational family was staying. This property had easy check-in and check-out, spacious accommodations, and a great view of Lake Norman.
The host was very personable and responsive, and the location was excellent. It was great to have access to kayaks, standing paddle boards, and a dock as well as a gas grill, which were some of the major influencers in our choice to stay here.
While we definitely enjoyed ourselves the one drawback was a pretty overwhelming odor of cats. There were cat droppings all over the back yard, and the indoor space was absolutely permeated with the scent of litter boxes.
For those who are used to cats or have them themselves, perhaps it would not be such a major issue, but we would probably not stay here again due to the odor alone.
Craig was nice. Lots of cats on the property, which is not disclosed, would be good to know. My dog has never been around cats so I was nervous the whole time about how he would react.
The room had a strong, strong cat odor making it very difficult to sleep. We could hear mewing kittens coming from upstairs, there were about 10 cat crates in the yard and there were cats in the yard. The unit was clean but the cat littler smell was overwhelming.
Large, comfortable lower-level apartment right on Lake Norman. Peaceful, comfortable, and quiet. All amenities taken care of. Kitchen is a little dated, but well stocked. Bedroom large and comfortable! Loved the dock and kayaks!
I can’t say enough great things about the property and the hosts Craig and Dorie. Thank you, Lucy (beagle) and I had a great time. The area is very quiet and pictures do not do the property and ambiance justice. I can’t wait to come back and to also visit our new fur friends
We just stopped in for 1 night. Upon Craigs recommendation we ate at Fat Daddy's (great food) and then spent the evening on the dock with a bottle of wine and watched the sunset.
Great location close to everything and right on the lake. The apartment was clean and there was coffee Craig was so kind. The parking was great the home was easy to find. The porch has a wonderful view. We will definitely be back !!!
As a New York residents we were looking for a relaxing place to spend our spring break and this is the perfect nice quiet place to do so. With a lovely lake view, peaceful neighborhood. Thanks to Craig and Dorie for the warming welcome and for the hospitality. Also a perfect easy communication all the time. We are coming back when the weather gets warmer so we can enjoy the outside activities.
I was just passing through on my way home for 2 nights. It ended up being one of the best parts of my overall vacation. Fantastic host communication and super friendly! What a beautiful trip!
My husband and I enjoyed staying at Craig and Dorie’s peaceful place on the lake. Imagine waking up to a lovely lake view from your bed! The neighborhood was very quiet, even on the weekend. Craig was very easy to work with.
We had another great stay at this property! We came down to Lake Norman 2yrs ago and had a great stay then, an opportunity came up for a weekend getaway on short notice and I was so happy to see this was available again. Craig was a great host, very friendly - available if needed but also gave us our space. They had everything needed for a spontaneous lake getaway with out pups! Beach, many kayaks, paddle boards, dock with chairs, covered patio, fully stocked kitchen, and allowed both of our dogs with no additional fee (a huge plus!). Good location with restaurants, stores, gas stations nearby but in a quiet neighborhood. Will definitely come stay again!
Truly enjoyed our long weekend. The spacious apartment with patio overlooking the lake was perfect. We took full advantage of the dock and lake toys (kayaks and paddle boards) as well as swimming in the lake. Being able to have our dog with us made it that much better. There were even life vests for dogs so we could take him kayaking with us.
Craig was super accommodating and wonderful to work with. We will definitely be back again!
This is a very quiet, residential area. Very relaxing. It is NOT a party cove which was perfect for us. Easy water access. Not too many stairs down to the water. Close to popular restaurants. 25 minutes to Cornelius for some cute shopping.Craig is super nice.

Lake House
Upon arrival there was a noticeable odor to the unit, we tried to identify it and determined it was the entry rug which we put outside. The bathroom was small and had what looked like uncompleted repairs (holes in wall) and was not overly clean. During our stay we had several crawling worm/bugs on the floors as well as a large cockroach. The blinds on several windows/doors were damaged as well. Location was good and the space could be fine with a little attention to some details. Not worth the price compared to other places we have stayed.
Craig and his wife(so sorry i forgot your name) are very friendly and sweet people who accommodate us animal lovers, as they too love animals.
Their place is cozy and beautiful with a great view from the cove with kayaks and a paddle board.
They also have doggie life vests for the dogs that love the water.
If your animals are your kids then this is the pet friendly place for you!
We will definitely be back very soon!
The place was exactly what I was expecting it would be based on the description, pics and previous reviews. Great lakefront house and property. we used the dock to swim from and also used the kayaks, paddle board, and big lake floating raft in the short time we where there. The unit itself is not a 5 star hotel but it easily met the needs of my family of four(2 college age boys) for a quick afternoon, night and morning on the lake. Craig is an awesome host and gives you all the privacy you want. Back patio is a great place to hang out at night for sure, quiet and peaceful and a cool place to watch out over the lake. We hope to come back again soon.

We are very blessed grandparents and enjoy Lake Norman so much. I still work as a karaoke host at various locations around the lake area and I dj special events as well. My wife, a former aquatic director with the YMCA, still spends time in the water with private swim lessons and playing with the grandkids. She also loves her animals and volunteers at the local Humane Society when she can. We've enjoyed the lake lifestyle for a long time and look forward to many more years here sharing it with you!
Why they chose this property
This property is so peaceful and lovely and yet it is close to so many places to see and things to do and we feel so fortunate to be able to share it with you.
What makes this property unique
Whether you're kayaking on the lake or relaxing on the sprawling porch near a fire and the koi ponds, this is a real home away from home that you can enjoy to your hearts' content.
