Okay

This is a nice lodge in a perfect location but not the best sadly. It states that the swimming pool is not available. We weren't sure of the reason but turns out it's because the owner of the lodge doesn't wish to pay the subscription to the holiday village for the facilities. My daughter was very upset when she saw all other families going swimming and we couldn't. I offered to pay extra but was refused. The outside pool is right by the pub so couldnt avoid it. We were aware to begin with but I didn't realise how difficult it would be to deal with There is a decking area but it was dirty and we didn't want to sit out there. (Previously used ash tray left out and we don't smoke). We bought some camping chairs to use outside. Considering how much the cleaning fee is, it was a shock how much we had to do before leaving, strip the beds and empty all bins (waste paper baskets etc). I always leave a place clean but following a child around to make sure that she didn't put a tissue in an emptied bin for fear of being charged an extra £10 per bin (£15 for not stripping a bed)) did put extra stress on us. The owner was very nice and responded to my message to say that the clothes airer was missing. I get the impression that there is a housekeeper who looks after the place but has sadly let the owner down. Overall it was a nice stay in a nice location but We won't be returning.

About the host

We got our first holiday home in 2012 at Millendreath Near Looe and over the years have bought 5 others at Honicombe Manor. They include 2 and 3 bedroom properties. We have 5 children and 13 grandchildren and both of us are ex-NHS workers. Being ex- NHS workers we believe everyone needs to get away for a break if its only a few days. We have reduce the prices on this lodge so more people can afford to get away.

Why they chose this property

We choose this area for the views and so many lovely places to visit.
