Amazing location

Beautiful house with pool, nice and private yet a short walk into the centre of Sarlat. The house is very well equipped and cosy for those days when the weather didn’t play ball. The surrounding area has so much to offer, we will be back!

Paradise in the Dordogne

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) had a fabulous time exploring Sarlat and the Dordogne from this terrific base. The house is perfectly located and the pool is a godsend after a full day of sightseeing. I would highly recommend this property only then it will be harder for us to book again.

Second vacation in this wonderful house.

First visit was in 2010 for two weeks in May. This one-week revisit was a long-delayed family Christmas holiday. The house is charming, well-maintained and comfortable. The location is perfect for walking to local cafes and restaurants, shops, the amazing Saturday market, and in-town sites of historical and architectural interest. Outside town, just 15 to 30 minutes by car are numerous chateaux, gardens, museums, prehistoric sites with cave paintings, and more. So much to do, and then a lovely place to come home to. Jackie was a wonderful host.

family holiday

Visited in May for a family holiday. My first mistake - didn't realise Sarlat is the Foie Gras capital until I had booked, so if you are opposed to this delicacy then you will struggle as majority of restaurant menus are duck dishes. My second mistake - not checking if pool was heated - it isn't. I chose this property because of the pool but too cold to use. Weather was out of anyone's control, but if it had been heated, this would have made the holiday more enjoyable as pool area is nice. The house is 10 minute stroll to centre so perfect location and best restaurant is literally just around the corner - we visited it twice. The house is quaint and decor in traditional french style but felt like it needed a good spring clean! As though we might have been the first guests of the season. It had a musty smell. kitchen well equipped and the 2 double bedrooms were nice. However, the twin room is not suitable for adults. My adult daughter had this room it smelt stale and the bedding was stained so she thought they were dirty. I did wash them but stains didnt wash out. She also found bugs in them (although she didn't tell me this until we returned home as she didn't want to cause a fuss) so she had slept on top of the covers every night. The shower room only had a curtain partition and was very small. Sarlat is the most beautiful town we would not revisit. If house was spotless I would have recommended it highly, but sadly it wasn't.

A brilliant stay beyond all expectations

We had a fantastic stay. The house is absolutely lovely, the pool and garden likewise. Sarlat is superb with its old well preserved center. We loved just walking around there and have great meals in the restaurants (there are plenty).

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with and acquired this property during Covid lockdown without even seeing it. Its location is ideal, with everything in the medieval town within walking distance. You are two blocks from the centre of town, in a secluded residential area, yet with UNESCO world heritage sights and over 70 restaurants on your doorstep.

The property itself is ideal for three couples or 1-2 families. If you want a day of relaxation, there is no need to stray from the house other than to buy fresh fruit and vegetables in the local market. The aspect of the house is stunning, with outdoor dining and a spacious pool and sun loungers.

All of the furniture is stylish, with interesting local artwork (and lots of butterflies)

We are very proud of this house and know that you will love your time there.
