A piece of Heaven

Upper Vobster Farm is the best to book if you require tranquility in order to relax, recharge, and rejuvenate! We stayed in the Dovecote- a light and well appointed room with the convenience of a kitchen to meet our requirements. The grounds were amazing, with walking trails and an abundance of greenery and gorgeous flowers. The staff were welcoming, greeted us warmly and checked in to see that everything was suffice. A beautiful place to stay while traveling the countryside.

Return Visit

Our three night midweek stay was as beautiful as last year. Everything, and I literally mean EVERYTHING about the farm is simply stunning. Whether sitting outside in our private space enjoying a glass of wine while listening to the bird song and the incredible silence…..or our days out to local places such as Bath and Stonehenge…..it is a unique paradise hidden in the English countryside behind two unassuming grey gates. As ever, congratulations and thank you for making our trip so memorable. Nick & Michelle.

Review of The Dovecote

We had a fantastic stay at The Dovecote The accommodation is thoughtfully arranged with plenty of storage. The standard of accommodation and attention to detail was excellent. It was both luxurious and welcoming and the welcome basket is a lovely touch. The staff were extremely helpful and the location and surrounding countryside is superb. We had catering on our evening of arrival and during the workshop and the food was amazing. The workshop was excellent, really well run, informative and fun. We would definitely like to return at some stage.

A Haven, beautiful location and immaculately clean.

This is the most beautiful location, tucked away in the middle of the countryside but feeling safe and secure. The accommodation was immaculate and the welcome pack of tea and coffee a nice gesture. Peaceful decor and everything in good condition. Beautiful white fluffy towels, only wish I was staying longer!

Dovecote was our place to just let go and enjoy

A weekend away at Upper Vobster Farm felt like so much more than a two night stay. We had all we needed and made full use of the gorgeous space to just rest and reset between visiting the surrounding area, its markets, galleries and gardens. The beds are super comfortable and the underfloor heating very inviting.

Outstanding in every way!

We stayed in the Dovecote for a week in early September 2022. The farm is owned by Michael & Tricia who still have a very hands on interest in the day to day operation. The room was absolutely beautiful, every detail has been considered to not only give you a wow factor on arrival, but to keep you feeling relaxed, comfortable and happy during the holiday. The staff are amazing. You can take part with activities such as daily feeds and goat walking, or you may wish to just relax. We did a little of both and loved it. I can truly say that Upper Vobster Farm as a whole is simply first class. I genuinely would recommend it to anyone wishing to relax and enjoy superior quality and comfort. It is also perfectly situated for days out. We visited Bath, Poole, Longleat & Salisbury during our stay. Thanks so much for this beautiful place, we will return

With my parents we look after 55 acres of land in the Somerset countryside. Growing up at the farm since 1991 over the years we have restored the buildings and the land back to its glory, so now guests can enjoy all the farm and area has to offer.

Why they chose this property

Upper Vobster Farm is a beautiful country property lovingly restored and created to help you take a rest from the stresses of life. There are so many pressures around us that take away our space and time. Upper Vobster Farm is somewhere where you can allow yourself to have a moment to be yourself again. We have 55 acres of land, including a 6 acre wood, which is a nature conservation area and preservation area for birds of prey. Nature, the woods and the sounds of the birds will make you stop in your tracks and feel the magic around. As well as the buzzards, kestrels and red kites you may well see the resident kingfishers on the stream or by one of the lakes, or hear the woodpecker at work in the ancient oak tree.

As our guest you are welcome to enjoy all that we have to offer. There are wonderful walks, places to sit and time to be. From the buildings the land slopes down to a stream in the valley below. There are two small lakes with damsel flies and dragonflies, one with a beach with logs and rocks to sit on that also harbours a large number of newts and the other one which is near an old stone bridge that leads you on to the old drovers way. But please remember that playing in or by or with water is what children like best and it is your responsibility to make sure that they are supervised by an adult at all times.

You’ll find a flock of North Ronaldsay rare breed sheep, pygmy goats, various ducks which live in their own castle, many varieties of hens and other wildlife. Grasses and wildflowers are abundant in summer, bluebells and wild garlic in spring and numerous fungi in autumn. Winter frosts leave an enchanting feel to treasure when you’re all wrapped up and can come back to a warm fire.

What makes this property unique

Set in 55 acres of Somerset farm and woodland to explore, with a 6 Acre Ancient Wood with Bluebells and Wild garlic in Spring. Come and join us feed the animals in the mornings, book the fire pit to be out in nature, allow your body to settle sitting by the pond.

We are close to Longleat, Bath, Frome, Cheddar Gorge and many other Somerset attractions. Babington House is just around the corner.

And whilst here you can still work and keep up with the world as we have dedicated fibre internet upto 100 Mbps.
