Ski Fernie Flyfish on the Elk River

Ski Fernie, fly fish on the Elk River, hike or bike the many scenic mountain trails, while staying in town.
This large home is located in the Annex directly across from the Elk River. Recently, a new playground has been built for kids and adults directly across the road. The dike along the river and to Maiden Lake has been paved for multi-use. After spending your day exploring the big outdoors, walk to downtown or snuggle up in the living room by the cozy natural gas fireplace.
Built with European craftsmanship, this lovely home is designed to accommodate up to 8 guests, a great retreat for families. The separate entrance and enclosed porch allows for easy on/off ski equipment and storage.
There is also an outside rack to lock up your bikes.
The house is ideally located on a corner lot across from the Annex Park, where you can easily access trails for bikes, skateboards, cross country skiing and snow shoeing; and in the warmer months there is premier fly fishing and rafting a short walk away. No need to mount and transport your bike since the Fernie Alliance Trail System connects to the River trail, literally 10 metres away.
Fernie has a spectacular 18-hole golf course and country club dining. The aquatic centre is open for swimming and has its own hot tub and steam room, but we think you will prefer staying "home" to relax in the private hot tub and in-house sauna. Ice skating can be found on the ponds, outdoor rink or in the arena where you can cheer for our hometown Ghostriders.
Alpine skiers can either take the shuttle or drive 10 minutes to Fernie Alpine Resort where you will find the best powdered trails in the East Kootenays.
This house has been coined by the locals as 'The Lighthouse' since there is an enclosed widow's watch or turret showcases a breathtaking and panoramic view of the mountains and ski hill. Watch the sun rise and set as the mountains cast legendary shadows on their bald fronts, or observe the migratory paths of animals across the Lizard Range and Mount Fernie through the spotting scope.

A Perfect Home away from Home for 30 day ski holiday

This was our first time attempting an extended stay for our annual visit to Fernie. It worked out like in our dreams thanks to this wonderful home. This home had everything that you could want for a ski holiday home: a sauna, a hot tub, great living space, well stocked kitchen and everything in between. But it was the thoughtful little details that sealed the deal. The hosts had thought of everything from heated floors to a well stocked spice cabinet to little brooms to clean the snow off the BBQ and Hot Tub. Michael and Nan were very responsive and helpful hosts. We would repeat a Month's experience in Fernie and book this place again in a heartbeat.

Fabulous place

we were a group of anglers visiting Fernie for the fishing. Nan and Michel's place was an outstanding place to stay. 3minutes to the two fly shops in town, multiple restaurants and the supermarket. The Elk River is a 200yard walk. Perfect location. The amenities are great, esp the sauna. It was a delight to cook in the kitchen which was completely equipped. I dont get these rentals that rent to decent size groups and the biggest saute pan in the kitchen is 10". Not here! Big old cast iron pan fit the bill for our meals. Knives were sharp and even a sharpening stone supplied. All the essentials like detergent, cleaning supplies etc were available. To us these minor (in cost) items helped make the stay so pleasant. On top of everything else, the place is comfortable, clean and well fixtured. Can't think of anything that could be improved.

Really great family vacation!

We had a really nice stay for two families (4 adults, 4 kids). The house is just off a nice walking trail and close to the mountain, and the kitchen and bedrooms were well stocked and furnished. Sauna and hot tub were awesome for night time wind down. Highly recommended!

Convenient location in town close to everything we needed. The place was clean, comfortable, with the amenities we needed for our trip. We are already looking forward to next year.

Great Ski House

Had a great stay at this property for 5 guests on a ski trip to Fernie. The house is very large and spacious and a bit eclectic. Kitchen is stocked for pretty much anything you could imagine. Even a proper tray for baguettes. Large open living room and dining room with fireplace make it great for relaxing/game night. The back entrance is perfect for skis and boots. This is also where the sauna is and exit to the hot tub. Very nice the house was stocked with trash bags and paper towel as this can be rare with rentals. While the washer and dryer happened to be on the fritz, the host was great with communication and helping give solutions to have any clothes washed/dried while we were there. Parking was ample and salt provided for the snow that did fall for the stairs. There are 2 showers and the master has a tub with a shower wand. The master also has a balcony to "lord over" the main living room. The turret was great to get 360 mountain views. The house was about a 15-20 min walk to the downtown area but all streets are well lit. Would recommend and stay again.

Perfect Place!

We could not have been happier with our stay. The home is beautiful, and the accommodations were perfect for our group of friends. We all love to cook, and the kitchen had everything we needed and was fun to work in. We had other friends staying in the area who joined us for dinner, and we especially liked the large dining area which was perfect for a game night. We hope to make a return visit to fish the Elk River and enjoy the beautiful area.

Fantastic house in Fernie

We had a wonderful time staying at this house. It was just minutes from downtown Fernie and the ski slope It was beautiful, and comfortable inside. The fireplace, sauna and hot tub were all perfect for some warm relaxation after some wintry days. The house had everything we needed and the hosts we're very welcoming and communicative. We all can't wait to go back and stay there again!

Great house in a great location!

We really enjoyed our time here this summer! This place has everything you'll ever need and is in a great location in Fernie right across the street from the river and bike path. Any questions we had were answered right away, Nan was an excellent host! We look forward to staying here again.

Fernie home

We used the home as a base for Elk River fishing. It was ideal. Short walk to the fly shop, restaurants, the river, other essentials (liquor store) and the property was beautiful. See you next year. Grant

Mike and I lived in the Maritimes most of our lives where we owned and operated a modern dairy farm in a small cove on the shores of the Northumberland Strait.

Why they chose this property

Our daughter introduced us to Fernie when we came for a visit. We fell in love with the small community feeling and big outdoor living. There is no excuse not to get out and do something, whether it be skiing in the winter or biking, hiking and fishing in the summer.

What makes this property unique

Ski, skate, bike, hike, swim, tube, walk, stroll the town and have coffee at one of the several boutique coffee houses. You will never run out of things to do in Fernie.
Have dinner at a table with a view every night, right in the house.
