This beautiful medieval cottage was built circa 1475 during the war of the roses as part of the St Mary’s college/university to house and educate the secular canons. This deceptively spacious property is set out over four floors and offers a wealth of history, charm and character, retaining its original period features throughout like its aesthetic inglenook fire places and medieval bread oven, yet offers the essential modern facilities and amenities.
Situated in the heart of this picturesque village on the Roman road in between Canterbury and the Cinque Port of Sandwich. And historic sites, museums, castles and countryside. Within close proximity of the coast in 3 directions, and a short drive from the World Heritage sites in the famous historic city of Canterbury which offers plenty for all, from museums, shopping, dining, cinemas, pubs and bars, or simply learning the history of Kent. The world famous St George’s golf course at Sandwich is one of several nearby. Within an hour of both London and France, from Canons Hall Cottage you can submerge yourself in historic charm and cultural experience whilst relaxing and enjoying the many attractions of the surrounding “Garden of England” countryside and coast.
Please note: There are open, steep, spiral or narrow stairs at the property.
Free WiFi

There are open, steep, spiral or narrow stairs at the property.
There are low ceilings, doors and/or beams within the property.
Large Inglenook fire is display only and cannot be used for open fires.
(Autumn / Winter 2022) The house next door to the cottage is having (emergency) roof repairs and scaffolding cover to the rear: We do not expect this to affect guests enjoyment of the cottage, as work is on the far side from the cottage, but we want guests to be aware ahead of bookings, any questions please do ask, thank you.
