The contemporary open plan living area has a beautiful shaker style kitchen, complete with all the modern appliances needed. Beautiful picture windows and large bi-fold doors make the most of the stunning views across the valley as far as the eye can see. Comfortable sofas positioned to take in the views and a cosy log burning stove for cooler weather. There is a ground floor bedroom and separate bathroom, convenient for guests with restricted mobility. Upstairs the master ensuite bedroom has vaulted ceilings and velux windows. Both bedrooms beautifully furnished and beds dressed for a high level of comfort.
On the edge of the Northumberland National Park, the location is excellent for exploring the spectacular scenery of the north of England, within a 20 minute walk visit the famous Vindolanda Roman Fort and a little further you can discover The Sill Landscape Discovery Centre and the world-famous Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall and see the most photographed, iconic tree from the movie ‘Robin Hood’. Nearby is the village of Bardon Mill, where there is a lovely picnic area, coffee shop/general store, a hotel serving a varied menu including Thai meals and drinks. From here catch the train - you can be in Newcastle or Carlisle in under 45 minutes. The historic market town of Hexham has a stunning abbey, the oldest gaol in the country and an abundance of eclectic shops, restaurants and pubs. Continue to the Roman town of Corbridge and meander round its boutique shops, art galleries and antique shops, stop for a coffee or take a stroll along the river. Locally there is an abundance of eateries to choose from. For the golf enthusiast, Close House Golf Course is just a 25-minute drive away. For a day at the races, Hexham racecourse is just 20 minutes’ away. In just over an hour you can reach the golden beaches at Tynemouth or head further north to explore the Northumberland coastal villages of Amble, Bamburgh, Warkworth and many more. With so much to see and do, Birkshaw Barn makes the most convenient base to stay.
