Delightfully sheltered, there is a pretty private garden to the front, accessed from the French doors in the living room which lead onto a patio and lawn with table and chairs for al fresco meals. There are more castles per acre here than anywhere else in the UK, and you can discover 19 of the most famous and dramatic castles in Aberdeenshire on Scotland’s Castle Trail. Some notable ones nearby include Craigievar, Kildrummie and Drum Castle and of course the famous Balmoral, but if castles are not your thing, there is plenty more to do and see in this unspoilt part of Scotland. As well as good golf courses, superb fishing and hillwalking, The Cairngorm National Park is within easy reach, with magnificent scenery, wildlife and leisure activities to suit all, while the Whisky Trail can be picked up from Dufftown, through Aberlour and down to Grantown on Spey, making a most interesting day out in superb surroundings.
