Great cottage in a good location

Very smart accommodation with an excellent view over Loch Fyne. Strachur is a good location to explore the Cowal Peninsula, and there are lots of places to visit in easy driving distance. We especially enjoyed Benmore Botanical Garden, Puck's Glen, Bute, and Crarea Garden.

Excellent house & location

We would highly recommend this house for a family break, it is in pristine condition, very cosy, has comfortable beds and seating and high quality kitchen facilities. Great views, tranquil but with lots to do in and around Argyll. We went walking in Argyll Forest Park (Puck’s Glen in particular was lovely), went shopping in Inveraray and Dunoon, went kayaking at nearby Loch Goil, to Oban for a sea safari and also did the Loch Fyne boat tour. Ardkinglas woodland garden and Benmore botanic gardens are also very close by, both well worth a visit and were very quiet midweek in June. Could easily spend another week in the area, whatever the weather!

What a house!

What an amazing house. We loved our stay at The Greenlea. We found plenty of things to do in the area - including a boat tour on the loch. The house has everything you could need for a weeks stay. It was beautifully decorated and furnished, thinking about everything you may need! A great pub within walking distance plus a little local tearoom and a shop! I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this house. That window seat and views would take some beating!

Another great stay

This was our 2nd visit to Greenlea this year and it it was as enjoyable as the first one in March. We spent Christmas at Greenlea and enjoyed the peace and tranquillity. No chasing the last sprout. This was the first time we had ever gone back to the same holiday let twice in the same year. The place was immaculately clean and presented at the highest standard. We wanted for nothing except an extra week! Dave and Gill

A perfect winter retreat

We needed some time together as a family to detox from Christmas travel and Greenlea was perfect, a beautiful, tranquil house (I always like to stay somewhere that is just a bit more stylish than my own home so i feel inspired- and this fit the bill!) , everything that we needed, including the little downstairs sitting area, and the huge window sills for those who needed quiet time with a book, and that view!!! Amazing! A real highlight was being able to watch my son paddleboard on the Loch whilst inside with a cup of tea! Lynda’s communication was clear and timely, and we really appreciated the message saying we didn’t need to check out at 9am as there were no guests expected that day. Thank you!

Lovely house in a beautiful location.

Greenlea is a lovely holiday cottage with spectacular views which you never tire of, whatever the weather. It's cosy and warm, very clean and has all you need. The garden is very pretty and it's great to have off road secure parking. The owner is very kind and helpful and said if we needed anything or advise, just to give her a shout. We visited some wonderful locations which weren't too far away but a must, is to visit Southend and Mull of Kintyre. The views are specular and the beach you'll have to yourselves. Enjoyed some eats at the Teashop and a meal at Creggans Inn, both very good, well worth a visit. Got shopping delivered via Morrison's. The only thing that we didn't realise was how busy the road can be at all hours. And just a couple of things I missed, a towel in the kitchen, even though there were plenty of tea towels, some extra tall glasses and a hook in the bathroom to hang your dressing gown on. Other than that, Greenlea is a great holiday home which you will certainly enjoy. My husband and I did.

Wonderful stay

The location is fabulous. Approx 30 mins from lots of different activities. (We hired a boat on Loch Goil, hill walking, gorge walk, castle, local towns.) The village is lovely with a well stocked post office, (who cooked us fish & chips) local pub and garage. The property is very clean, beautifully designed, immaculately maintained, extremely comfortable, beautiful views (over the loch with daily changing vistas, birds, boats, seals), has the little extra amenities that make it special: tea towels, dishwasher tablets, washing pegs, soap bars, soft bed linen, fluffy towels. Check-in was great and our host very helpful as our flight was delayed. Internet food shopping arrived on time and was very convenient. We enjoyed our stay very much and would not hesitate to visit again. We all fell in love with Scotland. Thank you for being such super hosts!

Nice but ...

Lovely property but would say that it needs more crockery/glasses, cutlery. Don't expect to have to wash up mugs by hand (there were only 3 for 4 people) for example, when there is a dishwasher. It means you end up putting the dishwasher on when not full which is false economy for the owner and not environmentally friendly. Also felt the description of the property was slightly misleading in mentioning the "abundance of local produce on the doorstep for keen chefs". We fall into that category but actually found local produce very difficult to source and not on the doorstep (unless it means the overpriced Loch Fyne deli). We eventually found a fish delivery man, but you had to order by a certain day (which we missed) and a local veg producer which was only open on certain days and not easy to find. Some information on sourcing local produce at the house would have been helpful.

Wonderful Scottish Holiday at Greenlea x

We had a fabulous stay at this house, the photos are great but the real thing is even better. We were blessed with sunshine in mid September but the amazing views would be great whatever the weather. The house is pristine with lovely interior design, really comfy beds, really good shower, really good wifi, really nice cookware and crockery. There is a little local shop just down the road but I would advise as we did bring some essentials with you so you don’t waste your holiday shopping for supplies. There are loads of lovely restaurants, fantastic walks and towns to visit we could have easily stayed another week there is so much to do. Thank you Lynda and Stewart

The best property we have ever stayed in.

The property has been renovated to an excellent standard and the decor and style of the accommodation was second to none. As with a previous property of these owners that we have stayed in, the cottage was spotlessly clean. Great location for easy access for places to eat, Creggans Inn [five minute walk], Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, Inver Restaurant - all serving great food ! We also had an amazing visit to Portavadie. Combined with the beautiful views and amazing sunsets and everything you need for your stay, we will definitely be back !

Stunning home and beautiful views

House was absolutely immaculate - like a show home. All brand new, beautifully decorated with stunning views over the water. There for Cowal Highland Gathering - took about 20 minutes to get to Dunoon and definitely worth the journey for this. Would definitely return.

Provide the basics please

Disappointed to have to buy staples you’d expect from a nice stay; toilet roll (only one provided), olive oil, salt and pepper, cleaning products for surfaces etc. at least let us know in advance such that we can buy it prior to arriving. Otherwise a lovely stay, in a superb location. Best, Duncan

A Fyne Holiday!

A lovely modernised property in a traditional setting, with stunning views over the constantly changing tides and atmosphere of beautiful Loch Fyne and direct access to the shore right across the road. Note: The road can be quite busy during the day as it’s used by locals, tourists and logging lorries, so there’s some noticeable noise at times, but this gradually diminishes as evening approaches and didn’t detract from our stay. Re. Access to the Loch; We had no problem getting a paddle board down and into the water. Greenlea also has a large private garden perfect for relaxing when you’re not out & about - or enjoying the amazing view from the (upstairs) living room. The shoreline is great for good old fashioned Beachcombing and collecting interesting pebbles etc - our car did weigh a bit more than it should’ve on the way home! There’s a local shop & cafe within easy walking distance and also a handy petrol station and the famous Creggans Inn is just along the road for meals. We visited Inveraray, Dunoon, Loch Eck and also roamed the local area including a ruined castle not far away, so Greenlea is a great base for exploring. All in all an excellent stay in first class accommodation in a beautiful area of Scotland. Highly Recommended.

A lovely stay

This stay was in the middle of a little road trip and was a perfect base to explore the cowal peninsula. The lodge is very well equipped and furnished with fantastic views. It rained most days but the accommodation is so comfortable that we didn't mind. We saw a red squirrel just after our arrival and there were regular sightings of herons and cormorants. The walk to the Creggan is worth it for the food and the local beer. The only niggle was fairly firm pillows and slightly more noise from the road than we anticipated but this was easily compensated by the kind donation of half a dozen fresh eggs from the owner. All in all one of the best cottages that we have rented and we would thoroughly recommend.

Great holiday home!

Greenlea was a fantastic holiday house with an amazing view looking down Loch Fyne. The house has been refurbished and decorated in a modern contemporary style with an open plan living space - we enjoyed spending time there when the weather was bad. There is also a lovely garden to relax in when the weather is better. There is a bit of occasional road noise but you don't see the traffic as the lounge is on the first floor. The Creggans Inn is a short walk away which is handy for eating out or going for a drink.

Probably the Best

Greenlea is probably the best holiday villa we have rented. Spotlessly clean, modern, warm and dry. Superbly appointed. Hassle free dealings with letting agents and owners who are exceedingly friendly and on hand. Simply terrific.

Beautifully and stylishly decorated

Really enjoyed our stay here. Decor stylish. Views amazing. Loved the driftwood Xmas tree. Owners very accommodating and helpful re entry/exit times. We love to cook when we're away so a few more kitchen utensils would have been useful. Also mirrors in bedrooms would be good for drying/styling hair. However, these are very minor points- mainly for feedback to the owners.

A fabulous location overlooking Loch Fyne

A beautiful retreat on the shores of Loch Fyne. It was a special Christmas reunion and a return to Argyll where we had fond memories. Greenlea is newly refurbished to a very high standard, deceptively spacious and very comfortable with soaring views of lake, mountains and sky. We didn’t want to leave!
