Railman’s Rest is a charming, dog friendly holiday home located in the seaside town of Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast. Sleeping up to 6 guests, it’s the perfect place for family holidays and getaways with friends. Just a short stroll from the bright lights of Whitby, you’ll find restaurants, cafes, shops and bars within a 10-minute walk from the property.
The Space:
Railman’s Rest has a bright and spacious living room. You’ll find original features throughout the space including beautiful coving and a black iron fireplace. Light floods in from the tall bay window and there is a comfy sofa with a matching armchair where you can relax with your loved ones. Turn on the flat screen TV to enjoy Freeview and a DVD player.
Fully equipped, the kitchen has modern appliances and cookware so you can prepare meals easily. The dining area includes a table and six dining chairs.
You’ll find two bedrooms on the first floor of the property and the third bedroom on the second floor. Stylish and tranquil, each bedroom features plush bedding and premium bed linens to ensure you have the best sleep possible. Each bedroom also includes a flat screen TV so you can enjoy long lazy mornings with a cup of tea in bed.
The master bedroom boasts a king size bed, the second bedroom has a double bed and the third bedroom is a twin.
The family bathroom is located on the first floor. Beautifully designed, this space includes a bathtub with a handheld shower, a large walk in shower, a WC and a basin.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
Free on street parking is located nearby and there are also a number of pay and display carparks within a short walk from the cottage. Further details on parking will be provided before your stay.
The Neighborhood:
Railman’s Rest is located near the harbour in Whitby and you’ll find restaurants, shops and pubs less than a 10-minute walk away.
The house is located on the West side of Whitby. You’ll be able to revel in the nostalgic seaside charm - head to the arcades or explore the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts.
Venture over the swing bridge and you’ll reach the East bank. This side of Whitby is full of narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.
Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.
Getting Around:
You’ll find restaurants, pubs and shops just in a short walk from Railman’s Rest.
Whitby train station is nearby so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.
There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.
