About this property
The Cottage Cosy 1BR Traditional Irish Cottage
Ideal for that quiet romantic getaway The Cottage at Burkedale House is a 100 year old traditional Irish cottage with all the convenience of modern day living. The Cottage also appeals to writers, artists and musicians who want a tranquil spot where they can gain inspiration, from the stunning surrounding countryside, for their compositions.
Delicious breakfast baskets available for purchase.
The space
Guests enter via the undercover outdoor dining area & through the back door (typically Irish) into the well equipped kitchen with dining table and chairs. (tea, coffee, sugar and milk are there ready for that welcome cuppa along with homemade scones) From here enter the cosy sitting room with wood burning stove (logs, coal & firelighters provided to get you started, additional supplies available for purchase). The bedroom has a Kingsize bed with all linen included (for stays of 1 week or more additional linen is left for you to change). The luxury bathroom has a walk in rain shower and towels can be warmed on the heated towel rail.
Cosy up in front of the wood burning stove with a good book or tune into Netflix to watch that movie you have not had time to see. An array of board games will keep you entertained for hours.
Take a walk around the gardens of Burkedale House and breath in the fresh West coast air and enjoy the views towards the rugged Burren landscape and across the Fergus River valley.
Sit and relax in the oriental tea house or toast some marshmallows over the fire pit
The Cottage at Burkedale is situated in the 2 acres of Burkedale House. The Cottage has spectacular views across the Burren mountains and Fergus river valley. The Cottage sleeps 2 people in a King size bed. The Cottage also has its own garden with furniture for alfresco dining in the undercover dinning area. Guests also have access to the gardens at Burkedale House.
Guest access
Car essential. There FREE onsite parking next to the cottage.
Nearest shops, & pubs are 5K away in Corofin.
Main town of Ennis is a 15 minute drive with a good selection of shops, farmers market, pubs and restaurants.
Other things to note
The tarmac roads to the property are narrow and have grass growing in the middle, not unusual for rural Ireland, they are suitable for all vehicles. This adds to the secluded charm of the property but the property is by no means isolated - only 5 mins to the main road to Ennis.
