About this property

Host & Stay | Jacksons Cottage

Summary:
Comfortably nestled in the centre of Whitby, next to the beating heart of all this glorious seaside town has to offer, Jacksons Cottage is a stylish property, practically oozing luxury from every wooden beam, stone tile and brick. Ideally located to explore all that the mammoth of Yorkshire tourism has to offer, the property is full of charm guaranteed to capture you and make you feel at home throughout your stay.

The Space:
Jacksons Cottage comes ready with a vast amount of space for the living area, more than enough room to fit in the whole household with room to spare for those relaxing hours spent together. Its snug sofa, two padded chairs provide for easy lounging in perfect comfort in front of the flat-screen after those long days exploring and taking in the best that Whitby has to offer.

Smartly combining wood and stone for a rustic feel, Jacksons Cottage’s kitchen is immaculate and excellently equipped with everything - oven, grill, kettle, gas hob, microwave - that you need to make the most of your self catering stay.

Upstairs you will find two double bedrooms at Jacksons Cottage. Both situated on the first floor, the beds themselves are made up using plush bedding and luxurious linens. The master bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom to boast about with a bath, shower, wash basin and WC.

On the second and final floor is where you’ll discover the third bedroom which is a twin. This room is ideally suited to families travelling with children, with a table football set guaranteed to keep them entertained for hours, as well as an en-suite shower room for added convenience of use.

The family bathroom can be found on the ground floor. It has a bathtub, a shower, a wash basin and a WC.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.

Pay & display parking is available in Whitby town centre.

Please note that the stairs may be considered narrow in places.

The Neighborhood:
Set on the east side of Whitby, Jacksons Cottage is located in the heart of Whitby town centre. On the side you’ll find narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Over the swing bridge, head to Pier Road and you’ll find cosy pubs, fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants. Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

Whitby train station is less than a mile away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.

Great little Hideaway

Great location, it noisy at times but being so close to amenities offset that somewhat. Able to dump the car and walk to everything

Absolute NIGHTMARE

Lack of utensils for 6 people Fridge frozen and smelt taped up with parcel tape! Unable to use the kettle due to the line scale we we had to boil pans of water to make a cup of tea!! Wet dangerous as they’re metal pans so when we went to pour the water into the cup the water would spit everywhere when it came up to the cooler metal as it was pouring out!! Dirty plates and cutlery - we had to wash everything and clean before using anything. Broken lock on toilet in the lounge resulting in people getting locked in - this is seriously dangerous! Broken toilet seat in one of the en-suites fecal smell In the attic bathroom coming from the toilet Guttering overgrown preventing water from dispersing due to the bed weather as it was blocked resulting in a waterfall effect making it impossible at night to sleep The back door off the lounge handle on the outside is loose and comes out. Dirty property, dust everywhere no sweeping brush to tidy up or dustpan and brush The inside bin was filthy and took bleach to clean it must have been like that a while the smell made me heave! It literally had a bin bag over the dirt and grime. Incorrect information regarding the waste collection - very confusing and then we were woken by the bin men on Friday morning! If we’d have known we would have placed the bin outside, the night before or even warning would have been helpful! The drawer in the washing machine was thick with mould and as a result made the washing mac
