About this property
The Chapel, North Elmham, Norfolk
A spectacular brick and flint Victorian chapel conversion sitting in acres of land, with woodland walks and superb rural views. This extremely spacious, stylish luxury home retains a sense of ecclesiastical grandeur and is bursting with character throughout.
Set in a quiet, wooded corner of the Norfolk countryside, The Chapel offers its guests a heady mix of gothic architecture, pastoral setting and modern facilities. Having been painstakingly restored over the course of a seven year project, The Chapel will now comfortably accommodate ten guests in five bedrooms, four of which are situated on the ground floor. Of the five bedrooms, three are en-suite, with a family bathroom serving the remaining two bedrooms. The generous proportions of the property have allowed the owners to create rooms that capture the imagination of those that stay, by way of its tasteful décor and the eclectic furnishing, embellished with pops of rich colour dotted here and there. Features include original wooden parquet flooring, a grand oak staircase, vaulted ceilings, Portland columns and gothic windows. Stepping outside, you are immediately reminded of the rural location. Mature trees and planting form a calm and contemplative backdrop for al fresco dining. While the back the garden is fully fenced and enclosed, the outer garden and woodland area is not ‘dog-proofed'.
Locally, you'll find the village of North Elmham just a short drive away, or a stroll along the pretty disused railway. Situated close to the banks of the River Wensum, here you'll find a great post office/cafe, a village shop for groceries, and two popular pubs, The Kings Head and The Railway Arms for meals or just a quiet drink, plus there's a fish and chip shop for a takeaway in front of the fire. For a special occasion, a dinner reservation at the nearby Brisley Bell is highly recommended. Having recently been the recipient of an award at The Great British Pub Awards 2021, a fabulous review in The Telegraph and local food awards.
Children and dogs must be supervised at all times when in the gardens. There is a large open pond in the enclosed garden, and a river running through the meadow outside the main garden, neither of which are suitable for swimming.
Additional Information:
Four well-behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge).
Pillows and duvets are a mix of synthetic fibre and feather.
Please bring your own pods for the Nespresso coffee machine (standard size).
No equipment provided for infants.
There is a private water supply at this property.
There is external CCTV at this property for security.
