Norfolk House is a beautifully styled, turn-of-the-century detached home, sitting right in the heart of the coastal village of Heacham. This hideaway offers the convenience of excellent local facilities within easy reach, including both of Heacham's beaches, the village pubs, world-renowned birding locations, cafes, supermarkets, and many other coastal and inland attractions.
Under the ownership of the same family for many generations, Norfolk House has had several reincarnations - once upon a time a popular greengrocers, and latterly a renowned hardware-come-lifestyle store which turned into a much-loved 'destination' for the folk of Norfolk. The house, still owned by the same family, has now been transformed into a superb holiday property by using their experience and skills at designing interiors that are comfortable and elegant, with a touch of grown-up sophistication. A spacious house, this lovely property is certainly a relaxing place to be and an ideal bolt hole for a couple or two, as well as a small family, at any time of the year.
With a choice of two sitting areas, one to the front of the house and another to the rear, guests can spread out and easily find a peaceful spot to themselves if they so desire. The open-plan living/sitting and dining area is a good sociable space, where french doors can be opened to the courtyard garden when the days are sunny and warm, and an open fire to light when the nights draw in. The three bedrooms (king-size, double and single), set around a large landing area, are found on the first floor, along with two bathrooms, one of which is en-suite and has a joyous roll top bath for the ultimate indulgent soak after a busy day out exploring under Norfolk's renowned big blue skies.
Outside, to the back of the house, there is an enclosed, south-east facing courtyard garden; the perfect option for daytime and evening outdoor dining when the climate allows, as well as chilling out and catching the sun on a summer's day. Norfolk House offers parking for two cars on the driveway.
Heacham has many footpaths to discover, and a great beach side promenade that stretches all the way to the iconic carrstone cliffs of neighbouring Hunstanton. Bird watchers will be in seventh heaven with RSPB Snettisham close by. If visiting historic houses is your thing, HM the King's Sandringham Estate is only a short drive away. Look out for popular Bordoli's pizza truck that visits the village on a Wednesday evening, and be sure to sample the gooiest of treats from Breakfast and Brownies on the high street. There is also a great antiques shop and cafe to be found next to the Tesco Express. For a larger supermarket, Lidl is located on on the road to Snettisham, and there is a big Tescos in Hunstanton, which also has EV chargers in the car park and a fuel station. For a special culinary experience, head inland to the village of Docking to sample the delights of the Nest Farmhouse, run by a Michelin star award winning team, or head further along the coast from Heacham to Old Hunstanton to find Michelin restaurant, The Neptune. Heacham is an excellent base for discovering all of the treasures to be found in North West Norfolk, as well as further afield.
Norfolk House is also available as a sleeps two option, with two bedrooms closed off: Norfolk House (2).
