Nice property but freezing cold

Oak Cottage is a lovely property and comfortably furnished. However, the owner chooses to lock the thermostat such that occupants cannot control the temperature. When we arrived in late December, the property was freezing cold. Calls, voicemails and texts to both the (remotely located) owner and the (nearby) property manager were not answered until the following day. The owner remotely adjusted the temperature settings but not high enough to be comfortable, leading us to contact him again and then wait another day for a further adjustment. We ended up borrowing portable electric heaters from family members living nearby to be able to be comfortable in the property. Not being able to control the heating to a guest's own level of comfort is a major drawback and frankly, an insult to guests. Further, the heated towel racks installed in the bathrooms did not work, leaving the bathrooms chilly at all times. I would not recommend a stay at Oak Cottage in colder weather, although it may well be very pleasant during the summer.
