About this property

Olguita´s Place - 2 Storey House

We are a family-owned small business offering affordable beachfront rentals on the south Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. This is a 2-storey 2-bedroom 2-bathroom house. Please note price quoted is per storey.

*****Entire house rents at $120/night.*****

Many claim to offer an “off the beaten path” escape into unspoiled natural beauty. Olguita’s Place is just that kind of gem, a family business on the south Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, made accessible at affordable and flexible rates. What was the last time you vacationed 50 meters from one of the world’s most beautiful beaches that also happens to be the site of a fascinating piece of history?
Olguita’s Place was home of the first settlers of Punta Uva, also known as Grape Point, who arrived from the Caribbean islands in the late 1800s and gave it its name. Your host and property manager, Reynaldo Matthews, is a direct descendant of these original settlers. Reynaldo’s vision was to honor the history while creating a space of tranquility as close as possible to natural beauty. Contrary to an approach of over-development, he chose to maintain all of the original structures on the property. All newly-built structures bear the mark of simplicity and comfort yet do not overpower the landscape.
Apart from the experience of local history and natural beauty, you will gain a glimpse of authentic Costa Rican living. You will learn about the importance of the coconut tree and all the bounty and livelihood it provided for the original inhabitants of the area. You will harvest exotic fruits not found in conventional supermarkets or even farmer’s markets. You will taste the world’s most electrolytic drink, coconut water, straight from the tree, and witness, upon request, the extraction of extra virgin coconut oil the old-fashioned way. And much more.
Olguita’s Place will appeal to the wellness-seeker and environmentally-conscious traveler as well as anyone searching for a peaceful, quiet environment and true Costa Rican warmth and hospitality.

Costa Rica

We all had a very good time, and the hosts were great. But when we got back home they called us and told us you didn’t give them their second installment of the fee which was over fourteen hundred dollars. . For that reason none of us will ever use VRBO again. You are an unscrupulous business that treats people very poorly and should not ashamed of yourself !

Pura Vida Paradise

This piece of property is in a perfect location, is on the end of a beachfront road which turns to sand. The grounds are spacious, beautiful up kept, peaceful, and safe. In the early morning and late afternoon one could hear the howler monkeys nearby. The perfect beachfront is only 30 steps from the gate of the property. Snorkeling is good from this beach location along with viewing the sunsets. I so enjoyed the walks along the palm and mangrove beach front and sand road path. Renaldo and his family live onsight and they are so pleasant to converse and willing to share tips and knowledge of the area. Thank you for a perfect stay. We will meet again. Kevin.

Loved the quiet surroundings!

We loved the location being close to a couple of restaurants and the beach. The local bus system is easy to use. We stayed in the upper studio. It was very basic but we didn’t need much. The hammocks were great to use in the afternoon if you wanted to nap. My only suggestion would be to have a ceiling fan that runs a little faster to help cool you off before bedtime. We loved this beautiful location and would definitely rent it again.
