Town: Wirksworth is a small, lovely market town on the outskirts of The Peak District, just a few miles from Matlock. Wirksworth is full of character, with numerous architecturally significant buildings, especially its magnificent parish church. With a strong local food ethic, independent stores coexist with delis, butchers, and bakers. Visitors will enjoy exploring the Puzzle Gardens' historic "jitties" and courtyards, as well as the Heritage Centre and the wonderful surrounding landscape, which includes adjacent Carsington Water, Black Rocks, and the High Peak Trail.
