Lovely Leiden Apartment

Location of this apartment was great, perfect for exploring Leiden - easy walkable access to cafés, shopping, museums and the Centraal train station!

Excellent location and space

This apartment is in a great location in Leiden. It isn't on a picturesque street, but it's just a short walk from the train station, the windmill, and various museums. It's on the top floor and bright because of the large windows (one in each of the bedrooms) and the large skylight in the living area. The apartment is well-equipped with a washer/dryer, fans, and a good kitchen. If you are cooking, there is a supermarket just a few minutes walk away near the train station, and the kitchen had everything we needed.

Very disappointing

A tiny staircase leads to this tiny apartment. No cupboard. Living room has no window but a glass ceiling. It becomes as hot as a greenhouse if the sun is shining. Restrooms smaller than airplane restrooms. Serious noise in the street at night from nearby bars and drunkards. We found laundry in the washing machine and the dryer. The apartment was way overpriced especially given all the above.

Great spot

The apartment was perfect for just me. There was a lot of noise at night due to the bar scene on the street (Leiden is a university town!) but the location was central and very convenient to stores, restaurants, and points of interest. Super close to the train station - very easy to get around town. Everyone I met was nice and welcoming. I used baggage storage at the train station when I had an early morning train and did not want to lug my suitcase to the station in the wee hours - very convenient and affordable. Lots of gluten-free options at most restaurants. Be sure to keep the bowl over the shower drain and know that stairs are narrow and steep (very common in Netherlands). The host communicated very well and quickly!

NOT clean

When we arrived, we found the apartment not cleaned. There were damp towels and a damp bath mat in the bathroom. Wet laundry in the washing machine. No dry towels were available. The sheets on the beds were rumpled and did not look clean. The garbage can was full of garbage. There were crumbs on the kitchen table and stove. The kitchen sink was not clean. The ‘host’ indicated that the cleaning people would be arriving to rectify the situation. Even after messaging the ‘host’ several times, it took over 5 hours for someone to come and clean and replace towels and sheets. The cleaning staff indicated the apartment had been cleaned after the last guests checked out. Does this mean unauthorized guests have been in the apartment? Does someone else have the key to the apartment? Additionally, there were cracked glasses and chipped plates and cups. The dryer stopped working after 3 loads. We had to clean the very full lint filter and the water evaporator. There were no manuals for the appliances so we had to spend time looking them up on line. We needed to repair the vacuum cleaner hose with duct tape. The entire apartment needs a deep cleaning and painting

Zu teuer, sehr eng, schlechtes Management, laut, ungepflegt

Mussten 30 min warten, weil die Wohnung noch nicht geputzt war. Dafür liegen dann bei "Einzug" noch Trockner und Waschmaschine. Der Boden war klebrig, Küchenausstattung war mangelhaft. Toilette mit Abstand Deckel Toilettentür ca. 60 cm. Durchgesessener Zweisitzer am Esstisch. Kein Schrank für Klamotten. Nachts bis 3 Uhr Lärm von den Kneipenbesuchern. Preis-Leistung stimmt nicht. Größenangabe der Wohnung übertrieben. Alles in allem war es wirklich misserabel für das Geld.
