We just finished a delightful two-week stay on Lawrence St and what a perfect little place it is. As others have written, it is a small but charming place for 2, but with a very nice living area (comfortable to entertain 4 – 6 people), an absolutely wonderful outdoor patio/garden, and an updated, fully-equipped kitchen. The kitchen was perfect for us - not only was it relatively spacious, but it was well-stocked with all of the right utensils, cookware and even quite a few staples, along with fresh fruit, juice and other breakfast items. We actually had dinner here with our daughter and son-in-law and sister one evening, including hamburgers on the grill (perfect for 4 but a little cozy for 5)!
Everything about the place suggests that it is a special little home rather than your usual ‘couple of rooms with Ikea-like furniture.’ Jack went out of his way, as it seems he does for all of his guests, to make sure we had everything we needed. For example, when we commented that we liked to grind and brew our own coffee (rather than using the Keurig on the counter), we found a new 5 cup coffee maker at our doorstep a couple days later. Flowers are provided and changed, and the gardens and front planters are always looking good. Umbrellas provided, Alexa for music, and good internet. All at a fair price. No traffic noise whatsoever. Perfect South End location that is so close to Back Bay (and Copley Square) that you can almost touch it.
As others have mentioned, you enter into the main, ground-level floor from the front, which has only the bedroom on that level. The stairway goes down to the living area, kitchen and bathroom (which is walk-out to ground level in the back of the apartment) to the easily accessible patio. The bedroom was nice, with a queen bed and a nice dresser and end tables. The bed was a bit soft for us, and creaked a bit.
If you are looking for a well-equipped, quaint little place in the spirit of old Boston (although renovated, you should remember that it was built around 1865!), and an unbeatable location, this is a great choice!
