Diamond in the rough
We arrived New Year's Eve on a train from Florence. The address was very close to Roma Termini station which is quite busy. There was tons of graffiti and street garbage all around. We were nervous when we met the host representatives who guided us through the door at the street. We climbed the 4 floors but let the quaint elevator take the luggage up. When we walked into the apartment, we were floored.
As good as the pictures are, the place was even more beautiful. Spacious. Airy. Beautiful windows opening onto Piazza Manfredi Fanti, which was lit up for the Holidays. There were tons of friendly restaurants and shops nearby. The host had a great information booklet which gave us all the info we needed. The weather was perfect so we turned off the thermostats and opened the beautiful windows and let the breeze come in. The kitchen is suitable for a chef (or chefs) and very well equipped. The living space was both spacious and comfortable. The beds were great and each room was quiet and private.
Despite our concerns about the neighborhood when we arrived, public services restarted on 1/2 and the neighborhood magically transformed. We felt very comfortable. It was a decent walk, short cab or easy metro to any of the historic sites we wanted to visit. The proximity to the train station was amendable to short day trips out of the city. We felt incredibly lucky to be in such a beautiful and restful place. Highly recommend this apartment for a high quality, urban escape.
