Recently refurbished and fully modernised character cottage with swimming pool and hot tub set in a wonderful location overlooking the river (Nantes-Brest Canal) and castle in the historic and charming town of Josselin.

Minimum 3 days stay out of season and minimum 7 days stay during June to September.
Located just 5 mins walk from the centre of Josselin with an abundance of great local bars, fantastic restaurants, shops, amenities, and the historical sights of Josselin.
The house is situated on 3 floors. The lounge/open plan dining area and separate small kitchen and utility room are all located on the ground floor with access to the high-level terrace area at the rear of the garden enjoying stunning views of the river and Josselin Castle.
The middle floor has 2 bedrooms and a main bathroom.
The top floor has another modernised bedroom and bathroom for guests to enjoy. Internally, there is enough space for 4 adults and 4 children to live comfortably, however the house can cater for up to 11 persons in total if required. Please note: There are spiral type staircases internally so this may not suit everybody’s mobility needs or very young children. Please ask if you need any help with mobility questions.

Located 35 mins from Vannes, 10 mins from Ploermel, 1 hour to Carnac and 1 hour to Rennes, the house is located in the perfect position for touring Southern Brittany. With its lovely rural and coastal towns, it’s beautifully clean, blue flag beaches and it’s varied, and interesting coastline all add to a wonderful holiday experience for people of all ages.
1 ‘Chemin de la minoterie’, (or 'no. 1, way to the mill’), is set in an enviable location and is literally 20 yards from the river bank with views at the rear garden to the castle which also lights up at night and is just magical. The view never gets old! You can relax on the high-level decking area which is accessed straight from the kitchen area and have your morning coffee and breakfast in the sun, watching the river boats mooring up and river life meandering by. Such a lovely relaxing way to start the day..

This is also south facing and is a real sun trap at all times of the year, even during the colder months.

The house:
Open plan living room/dining area
- 1 x large open plan living/dining room with extra drawer storage, coat hooks and shoe store.
- 1 x Log burner and oil filled radiator (which are both only ever used in the colder months). (Small amount of logs included).
- 2 x brand new comfy sofa chairs for up to 3 people each.
Dining area with table and chairs for 6 people.
Sofa bed for 2 children or teenagers/small adults.
- 1 x TV and DVD player includes French freeview channels and English freeview channels.
Utility room (accessible from the lounge)
- 1 x washing machine and 2 x clothes horses which can be used inside or outside for drying clothes.
Small Kitchenette
- 1 x small kitchenette (please be aware the kitchen is relatively small compared to the rest of the house but is completely functional, modern and has everything you will ever need for your stay).
Includes Fridge/freezer, oven, grill, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, crockery, pans, and plenty of utensils and storage.
Bedrooms
- 3 x good sized bedrooms (1 king size bed on top floor, 1 double bed (middle floor) + 2 single beds + 1 bunk bed (also located on middle floor in second bedroom)
- 1 x single sofa bed also located in top floor bedroom
- 1 x Xbox 360 gaming console, lots of games and 2 x controllers in bunk bed room including small tv.
All bedrooms include free of charge electric wall mounted heating.
Bathrooms
- 1 x top floor bathroom, wc and shower with heated towel rail.
- 1 x middle floor bathroom, wc and shower with heated towel rail.
All household linen is provided: sheets + towels. Also, a small amount of logs to start with, some body care products provided, shampoo, soap etc. and some washing machine tablets.
Things to do:
- Josselin (Petite Cite de Caractere) The majestic castle towers are reflected in the Oust. Owned by the Rohans, one of the oldest families in Brittany, the castle is the symbol of this pretty town. Plan half a day to explore the charming little streets of this Small Town of Character and visit its basilica (the castle and its gardens, the quirky doll museum and its basilica are all worth a visit), The market in Josselin is held every Saturday morning and is great for your meat, sea food, fruit and veg and many other various high quality produce including other things on sale.
- The local river/canal is renowned for fishing, cycling and walking. There is also kayaking, electric boat rentals and bicycles for hire just a few minutes’ walk from the house. Horse riding. Golf, water skiing at Lac au Duc only 10 mins away.

Golfe de Morbihan – 45 mins away by car
Rochefort-en-Terre (a favourite French village), Malestroit and The Brocéliande forest in Paimpont are only 30 minutes away (walks, fishing, discovery of mythical sites and legends of the fairy Morgane, Merlin the Wizard etc.)
- Lac au Duc and its leisure centre in Taupont 15 minutes away (games for children, 9-hole golf course, equipped beach, water activities, picnic tables, inflatable structures)
- Bowling in Ploërmel 12 minutes away,
- Cinema in Ploërmel,
- Museum of the scrap metal poet and insectarium in Lizio 10 minutes away,
- The Branféré zoo 40 minutes away,
- The Kingoland amusement park in Locminé 20 minutes away.
- The closest beach is only 35 mins away in Vannes and Arzon and its stunning beaches are only 50 mins away on mostly quiet country roads.
Arzon and La Baule are both great areas for a beach day out and well worth a visit in our opinion.
Airports used are Rennes (1 hour away), Dinard (1 hour 20 mins away) or Nantes (1 hour 40 mins away).
St Malo is often used for ferry crossings too and is 1 hour 30 mins away.
