About this property
Higashiyama Komachi - Unique Machiya Near Higashi Chaya Geisha District
Higashiyama Komachi is a spacious Japanese machiya, filled with traditional and modern art. Located just a five minute walk from the famous Higashi Chaya tea district, right next to two bus stops, and free parking for those traveling by car, this house is a great place to spend your time in Kanazawa.
Description of the house
The ground floor has a large living room, kitchen, shower, and restroom. Upstairs is one large bedroom with one double futon and two single futons. Both the ground floor and upstairs have high ceilings, creating a very spacious yet traditional feel.
The interior of this house is truly unique. The owner of the house is a local art producer, and has decorated the house with art from international artists but also traditional Japanese antiques. With plenty of space to keep your luggage and an open living room that leads into the kitchen, the house is a great place to relax after traveling.
The neighborhood
The Higashi Chaya tea district is a place where you can experience Japan of the past. The traditional architecture, peaceful streets, and the beautiful Asanogawa River make this district a truly special place to visit. Strolling through its alleys, you can soak in the unique atmosphere of the old tea houses, remnants of a bygone era. Some of them are now converted into museums or craft shops, offering a glimpse into traditional Japanese culture. At sunset, the play of light further enhances the timeless charm of this place.
