Town: Musbury is a small village in East Devon lying between the towns of Axminster and Seaton with much of the surrounding unspoilt countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and the centre of the village is a designated Conservation Area. There are plenty of spectacular walks in the surrounding landscape of wooded combes, vast areas of heathland, fertile river valleys and breathtaking cliffs or hilltops. The area is rich in wildlife with local nature reserves providing sanctuaries for birdlife including ospreys around the Axe estuary. From Musbury Castle, a hill fort above the village, there are spectacular views of the Axe Valley. Musbury is three miles from picturesque Seaton Bay with its mile long shingle beach on the Jurassic Coastline, a natural World Heritage Site. The attractive fishing port of Beer is also close-by as is the historic town of Axminster, with medieval minster church by the beautiful river Axe, weekly market, a museum containing antique Axminster carpets and ‘River Cottage’ produce shop and café.

Short break

Great location for access to a number of Dorset’s beaches. Holiday helped by the great weather. Only issues were that the beds weren’t too comfortable and the thin walls with the adjoining property meant you could hear them using the bathroom.

Peaceful stay

Location of actual property difficult to find once on the site - fortunate that cleaners were still on site at 4.15pm to help locate property. Guest information in property well out of date!! told prior to coming that there was a gas cooker so especially bought matches to deal with same as all the electric at home and fireplace.neither correct! Guest folder claimed cooker information in rear of it ..again wrong ..found eventually under the gas boiler in a draw. switch to hob hidden behind microwave toilet paper so thin it was waste of space otherwise very pleasant Cottage well equipped
