Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Town: Aberfeldy is a lovely market town on the Tay in Perthshire. Aberfeldy is just south of Glen Lyon, Scotland's longest, loneliest, and most beautiful glen, and is associated with Burns' poem The Birks Of Aberfeldy and General Wade's 1733 bridge. Besides the breathtaking views, there is much to entice visitors. Many paths through forest and countryside lead to a 10-mile riverside walk for pedestrians and cyclists. Aberfeldy is also on the Rob Roy Way and Route 7. Whitewater rafting on the River Tay is a thrilling experience. Castle Menzies is a magnificent 16th century castle now open to the public. Tour Dewar's World of Whisky on the outskirts of town. Explore the town's galleries and craft shops, including the Scottish Chocolate Centre. The Scottish Crannog Centre depicts Iron Age life, while Loch Tay offers watersports, and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park are nearby. In an hour you can bag 30 Munros!

Family Trip of a Lifetime

Two years in the planning to get everyone on the same page! Being born in Scotland I thought it was about time my children and grandchildren saw this beautiful country and see where their roots are. Aberfeldy was a perfect spot, central to everything we wanted to see. The house was the perfect size for 8 of us, and we spent our evenings around the big dining room table re living the day and sharing our stories! Our host Jimmy made sure all our concerns were met. Very hard to get all the family together at once, but we pulled it off and had a vacation full of memories for years to come. Aberfeldy is a lovely little town, nestled in a valley with the river Tay running through it. All the amenities needed are there....grocery store, butcher, baker, and many fine restaurants. Could not have been a better choice!

Great location, nice sized house

Overall we really enjoyed staying at this property. It is well located in the heart of Aberfeldy. Everything was withing walking distance. The neighborhood is quaint and quiet. The house is quite large with a nice yard. It was well stocked with spices, dishes, dish soap, pots and pans and cutlery. We needed mixing bowls to make a cake and the owner got them to us by the next day. (Thank you!) The dining room table is huge and sat our group of 8 comfortably. I would suggest that the Foos ball table that shares the dining room was a bit in the way. The showers are fantastic. Each was sized well and had a rain shower head and handheld. (no place to put your soap except the floor, unfortunately,,,also no wall hooks for your towels anywhere.) The beds were very comfortable and I liked that they were convertible from twins to kings, by request. Each room has a very small wardrobe. I would have liked more storage for clothes. My rating for cleanliness was lower because we found some maintenance issues, dirty carpet, a very frozen ice jungle in the freezer, and toothpaste marks in the medicine cabinet. It wasn't enough to complain about during our 4 night stay. Parking was ample. We had to park on the street because we had a wider van than would not get through the driveway gate. It was not issue for us. Be sure to walk up the road to the Birks of Aberfeldy. It is well worth the effort. The entire loop will take about two hours but the waterfalls are worth it!
