About this property

Willow Cottage a hidden moorland gem near the coast and St Just.

Crossed by ancient ley lines in a tiny moorland valley hamlet near the Tregeseal stone circle & just 5 minutes drive from St Just lies Willow Cottage. Recently renovated throughout to provide spacious, stylish and peaceful family accommodation for 6 in 3 bedrooms (or 8 using the living room sofa bed). With all modern conveniences plus large riverside gardens, croquet lawn, viewing deck & BBQ area and Swedish woodfired hot tub, Willow Cottage is a unique quirky & artistic haven to escape the rigors of everyday life.
Willow Cottage lies in a secluded valley in the moorlands in a small hamlet of 7 houses called Lower Bostraze. With the small river Nancherrow running through it gardens you will find it a haven of spiritual peace a few minutes’ walk from the Tregeseal Stone Circle where the ancient ley lines cross. It sits in the little known and unspoilt St Just moorlands within easy access of stunning beaches & coves, the coastal path and around 5 minutes drive from the old mining community St Just.

Following entire renovation completed in 2022 you will find all modern conveniences catered for whilst maintaining all old-world character features. This private detached dwelling has large surrounding mature gardens, water features, a wood fired hot tub and a large viewing / sun deck and BBQ area with spiral staircase to the gardens. Willow Cottage is filled with original art, sculpture and artifacts with many pieces from local artists, it’s interior design is purposely a little quirky and certainly not minimalist, providing a wealth of interesting interior features.

St Just is a picturesque traditional village about 5 minutes drive and 15 mins walk from Willow Cottage. It is the most Westerly community in the UK principally made up of old granite minors’ cottages, a beautiful ancient church and a full complement of shops, galleries, convenience stores and pubs combined with a wealth of history.

In addition to the local Co-Op and Premiere convenience stores in St Just you will find a traditional grocers Stones, two butchers (I would recommend Old’s who supply top restaurants in London – ask anyone for directions as it’s a couple of mins walk away from the centre), Clemo’s Hardware and Pet stores, a Pharmacy, Warrens Pasty shop, Moon Maid café serving locally made ice cream. For locally sourced produce there is a Farm Market in nearby St Buryan and the Community Farm in Bosavern just outside St Just on the Sennen road.

St Just has a wealth of pubs and eateries. I would recommend the King’s & Wellington in the Square, their food for lunch and dinner is excellent. The Commercial holds a quiz night every Thursday. The Star is the most traditional pub full of historical artifacts and hosted by Johnny – live open mic evenings every Thursday and quirky enough to be featured in news around the world for putting up an electric sheep fence during Covid to keep customers a suitable distance from the bar!. All the pubs being just a minutes walk apart, each venue regularly hosts events depending upon the season.

In addition to the great traditional Fish & Chip shop Jeremy’s, there is the Square for Pizza’s, a Chinese take away and Warrens bakery. Do also try the Copper Kettle or Haberdashery Café, the food is excellent. Also, you have the Dog & Rabbit, great for breakfast or butchers Mac Fadden's for pasties. However, if you are not feeling too laid back the local produce is amazing and as fresh as it gets – pop into Newlyn for the local fish shop for daily landed catch – and try out your culinary skills (there is a library of cookbooks provided at Willow Cottage).

Also in St Just you have various galleries, gift & antique shops along with the world renowned Kurt Jackson Foundation gallery.

Drive 15 mins to nearby Sennen Cove for the most beautiful mile long sandy beach, outdoor bar / café & restaurant or quieter Gwenvor Beach in the next door cove (only accessible on foot). Closer to home and about 10 mins walk from St Just you have Cape Cornwall, the most Westerly point in the UK next to Priests Cove, a picturesque Cornish fishing slipway with granite huts built into the cliffs, a tidal pool for kids swimming and a small café in the National Trust car park open in season. You can swim out from both Priests cove and next door Cot Valley with a sandy cove at low water, both are perfectly remote, unspoilt and run by the National Trust. Life Guards don’t cover these two coves with Sennen being the nearest beach with a Life Guards station operating during Season. Just up from Priests Cove you have the Cape Cornwall Golf club with one of the most beautiful 18 hole courses in the UK, the clubhouse and restaurant have spectacular views.
If you are visiting Cornwall Willow Cottage will provide that unique escape experience you have been seeking.

A hidden gem haven!

Willow Cottage is the most marvellous place I have ever stayed, a truly creative piece of art in itself! A feast for the eyes along with every comfort you may need. Beautiful bed linen, comfy beds, well stocked kitchen, fabulously roof top terrace and beautiful garden. Upon arrival there was milk in the fridge, prosecco and biscuits which were very much appreciated. Will definitely be back! Thankyou.

Willow Cottage

Beautiful property, very quirky which made it all the more appealing to us. Our host was very attentive and didn’t hesitate to take care of any issues. Beautiful garden which our dogs absolutely loved and I couldn’t keep my daughters out of the hot tub. Would use again.

Lovely Stay in the sunshine

We were blessed with amazing weather and the property is definitely a talking point and think we’d still see something new if we came back. The upstairs veranda is beautiful and we were up there every day. Mike answered questions we had immediately. Overall a fantastic stay and many memories created with the family.

I'm an easy going proud father, privileged to live in and enjoy beautiful Cornwall. I have travelled widely and love to meet new people, but there is little better than a wander on the cliffs, a swim in the sparkling Cornish waters or the excitement of pulling the lobster pots, the prospect of a pint to follow in a cosy fire lit old Inn and later cooking the days catch.
When travelling I love to discover quirky places off the beaten track, to take in the scenery and atmosphere at a relaxed pace and engage with the local people. At home I enjoy time with my children, hiking, fishing, swimming, good food and singing especially after a beer or two.
I like to think of myself as outgoing, helpful and friendly. I have two traditional beautiful cottages I rent out both in stunning, secluded locations to enjoy the tranquility of Cornwall with easy access to local amenities and coastline to help you plan your escape to a proper Cornish experience. One life - live it !
