About this property
Omega House - Three Bedroom Apartment, Sleeps 6
This elegant luxury property is set in Kingswear’s quiet historic Conservation Area, on the South West Coast Path, via the side gate to Prince’s Steps; ideal for exploring the area by foot, including The old Battery and National Trust Coleton Fishacre. All in South Hams National Landscape.
Opposite the house are public steps down to Colins Quay, the Dart, and a petite beach perfect for crabbing or launching a paddle board. Enjoy Kingswear pubs and fresh caught local fish and chips Friday nights from the Fish Shack.
Omega is 300m from the lower ferry to Dartmouth with its award winning restaurants, bars, cafes, shops and galleries. Visit the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth Castle or Castle Cove for beach days and a secluded swim. Take the ferry to National Trust Agatha Christie's Greenway House, or cruise on Britain's last beautiful river paddle steamer Kingswear Castle, June to September on the enchanting river Dart. Steam trains from Kingswear station chuff to Paignton and back for The Harbour Lights restaurant, old harbour and Fairy Cove or pier.
Kingswear and Dartmouth have a warm microclimate where spring comes early and the magnificent Magnolias bloom from mid February onwards, along with Camelias, Japonicas, purple Periwinkles, primroses and daffodils. Visit in March or April to catch them in their full glory. The micro climate also allows giant agave, tree ferns, palm trees and other subtropical flowers to flourish.
Dartmouth has a Food Festival, Music Festival, Regatta, and Christmas Lantern Parade, why not book for one of these entertaining special events.
The light filled first floor apartment with outstanding views of the harbour, river, castle and out to sea, is the main part of Omega House, the lovingly designed and built home of renowned local author Don Collinson, seamlessly blending antique and contemporary furnishings.
Access by side steps up from the parking area. Entering you are greeted by the stylish contemporary open plan kitchen dining room, excellently equipped making it easy to prepare family meals around the oak table for six with spectacular views of the river Dart.
Adjacent, the elegant spacious lounge area to relax and watch the boats sail by. Features include, floor to ceiling windows with stunning views, Georgian stone fireplace, with Smart TV above, leather sofas, oil paintings, bespoke Art Deco Blue Bird stained glass door, a Steinway Upright piano and board games.
Along the hallway are three bedrooms all with built in wardrobes : a dual aspect master with great views of the river, castle and harbour, King Size Sleigh bed, and Victorian Chaise Long, a twin room with big picture windows, and basin, and the double with Victorian cast Iron and brass bed, basin and side views of the harbour.
The bathroom has a freestanding roll top, clawfoot tub for an indulgent soak, a walk in shower, and high level WC. There is also a separate WC adjacent.
Sliding doors from the kitchen dining room lead out onto the balcony, with outstanding panoramic views, a lovely spot for breakfast, or cocktails with family and friends. Spy seals sunbathing on the seal platform in the summer months. A courtyard to the side, again with great views has a Webber BBQ, teak table with six sturdy chairs, and outdoor crockery enabling everyone to enjoy al fresco dining.
Omega House boasts a stunning elevated position overlooking the shimmering waters of the River Dart. When you first enter this stylish first-floor apartment, you will immediately be drawn towards the floor to ceiling windows to marvel at the stunning panoramic views. Enjoy the spacious south facing balcony, perfect for breakfast and morning coffee, a totally relaxing space at any time of the day, beautiful sunsets with a cocktail is of particular appeal.
