Stable Lodge sits in the corner position of a quiet stable courtyard behind historic Hoebridge House. The property has been renovated to a high standard to provide larger, more spacious rooms than you would expect in a typical two bedroom house, or holiday cottage.
The lodge is tastefully decorated. Period panelling and antiques are mixed with comfortable furnishings and contemporary work from award winning local artists.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms which sleep five in comfort, making this the ideal home away from home for families, couples or a small group of friends. Bedroom 1 has a kingsize bed. Bedroom two has a double bed and a single day bed. There is a toilet on the upstairs landing. The main luxury shower room and further toilet facilities are off the spacious ground floor hallway.
Downstairs the main living space is excellent. The open plan design makes this a sociable space to enjoy holiday time, whether you’re planning a family break or a catch up with your friends. The main panelled living room has a feature cast iron stove and Smart TV for those cosy nights in. There are two leather club style sofas, an armchair and a bay window seat with views to neighbouring garden areas.
An open archway connects directly with the kitchen and dining room area, where you will find all you need to prepare and enjoy those special meals. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances, including integrated dishwasher, a fridge freezer and a washing machine. It boasts a good selection of quality equipment, all you need to prepare great meals to enjoy round the spacious dining table.
The cottage makes a perfect base for fishing and golf, hiking and biking in the Borders hills or for gentler riverside strolls. It is a 15 minute walk into Melrose across a listed footbridge over the River Tweed.
Melrose is famed for its abbey and Rugby’s Sevens Tournament, the Borders Book festival and nearby Abbotsford House, home to Sir Walter Scott.
Melrose offers a range of local shops with bars, cafés and restaurants on a busy high street. Gattonside itself has two highly rated restaurants, both within two minutes walk of Stable Lodge. The nearby train station at Tweedbank also gives easy access to Edinburgh for a day out using the scenic Border Rail Line.
