About this property
Eastleigh Cottage - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
Set within walking distance of Marazion beach and town, this gorgeous cottage is simply perfect for family getaways to west Cornwall and boasts two bright bedrooms, elegant open plan living / dining and a private terrace with views of St Michael’s Mount.
One of a row of attractive original granite cottages, Eastleigh appeals from the moment you set eyes on its sunshine yellow exterior. Inside, the cottage’s humble heritage is showcased throughout with exposed stone walls, overhead roof timbers and sash windows while natural tones and sophisticated furnishings harmonise the old and the new to create an atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxation. Refurbished to an excellent standard and with high quality, modern features, the ground floor is delightfully bright and spacious and welcomes guests to cook / dine and unwind together in complete comfort.
Upstairs, the property’s bedrooms are ideally configured to suit a family of four or two couples, with the master featuring a sumptuous king size bed and the roomy second having twin beds. The family bathroom (which is also situated upstairs), has been beautifully redone to include a large walk-in shower and contemporary tiling as well as an enormous rainfall attachment, so expect speedy de-sanding after your day at the beach.
Making the most of west Cornwall’s temperate climate, the cottage features plenty of outdoor space too. A slate-paved, walled courtyard with bistro table and chairs is where you’ll be able to savour your morning coffees, and a raised terrace with sea and Mount views is the perfect spot for enjoying fresh air dining while watching the sun set in all its splendour.
If you’re keen to explore the area, Mounts Bay is awash with pretty coastal villages, landmarks and family-friendly attractions, the most famous of which being the rocky island and medieval church of St Michael’s Mount. Sitting right offshore and accessed either by foot along the tidal causeway (or by boat when the tide is in), this historic feature is an absolute must while visiting the town and offers not only sublime views back towards the coastline, but a wonderful tropical garden, restaurant and castle.
A short drive away are the villages of Newlyn and Mousehole, both with completely different atmospheres but both well worth visiting for their individuality. Like a glimpse into old Cornwall, Mousehole with its Lamorna stone cottages is delightfully quaint and charming, while Newlyn with its working harbour and art scene is vibey and bustling. Further afield is the beautiful Porthcurno with its world-acclaimed beach and Telegraph Museum, as well as the ruins of Botallack mine which is a UNESCO World Heritage site in St Just.
Good Housekeeping Bond
We ask our guests for a £200 good housekeeping bond, which is pre-authorised against your card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved and then released afterwards if there is no claim. We will contact you nearer the time of your arrival to arrange this.
