About this property
Villa Benzi - Seven Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 14
Villa Benzi is a luxurious neo-classical home sitting directly on the shore of Italy’s much-loved Lake Como. Situated in the charming medieval village of Torno and within easy reach of Como and Bellagio, this home is the perfect place to spend your holiday.
This 19th-century villa has been beautifully maintained and is packed with antiques, original features and sumptuous Italian décor. Inside and out, the house truly encompasses the glamour and style of Lake Como. The villa also offers all of the modern conveniences you may need, including Wi-Fi, air-conditioning and satellite TVs.
The communal areas in the villa are extensive; there are two living rooms filled with comfortable seating and a vast dining room where you can host special dinners with your party. There is even a games room, ideal for the kids.
There are seven bedrooms in total, many with en-suite bathrooms and panoramic views of the lake. The bedrooms on the first and second floors can be accessed via the Carrara marble staircase or the handy elevator.
Heading outdoors onto the terrace you will be in awe at the panoramic views of the lake. The garden has many spots where you can eat al-fresco or just relax while taking in the scenery. There is also a lovely heated pool with an optional hydromassage function!
If you ever want to leave the villa then the historic village of Torno is just minutes inland from the house. Here you will find several bars, cafes, restaurants and a small supermarket.
A settlement since pre-Roman times and constructed mainly in the medieval period, the village also has some stunning buildings such as Santa Tecla church and pretty streets to wander around. If you fancy a walk, head up to the wooded mountain hamlet of Montepiatto which is just 2km away but feels like another world and offers some of the best views of the lake.
The villa is well located for exploring the lake and the surrounding towns; Como city is just 8km away, this a great city for shopping and visiting the many museums, but you can also take ferries to other places such as Bellagio, known as the pearl of Lake Como. It can also be reached by car and the drive is around 30km.

Location:
Sitting on the shore of Lake Como in the medieval village of Torno, Villa Benzi is an idyllic home from which to enjoy the splendours of the lake and the surrounding towns and villages.
The closest amenities are just a stone’s throw away from the house in Torno. Under ten-minutes walk away you will discover historic churches, cafes, shops, bars and restaurants around the colourful main square.
If you want to visit somewhere with a larger selection of shops and eateries then drive over to Como which is 8km from the villa, close enough to nip out for dinner. There is also a large selection of museums and galleries, plus attractions such as the 12th-century tower, the old town and the magnificent gothic cathedral.
Of course, the lake itself is one of the main draws to the area and there are many ways to make the most of it; there are beaches and lidos such as Lido di Fagetto Lario just 4km away, boat trips around the lake or boat hire if you would like to drive yourself. There are also hiking trails surrounding the lake, if you prefer to take in the views from dry land. If you want to take part in something a little more active then you can also try swimming or try jet-skiing right outside the villa.
A lovely place to visit by boat from Como or by car from the villa is Bellagio. Around 30km away, this picturesque village is one of the main attractions on the lake and it is easy to see why. Wander around the cluster of pastel-coloured buildings and winding streets and shop for local artisan goods before stopping for lunch at a lakeside restaurant or a romantic tucked-away spot.
If you want to visit somewhere further out you could try Lugano which is 48km away or Milan which is just over an hour’s drive away.
