Mullhill sits quietly on an elevated position on a working farm with spectacular views out over the Irish sea and down towards the gorgeous little village of Port Logan with its sheltered bay. Mullhill is an imposing detached Farmhouse which has been tastefully decorated and renovated throughout and is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday is this stunning corner of Southwest Scotland. The rooms are spacious with a modern kitchen/diner and lounge on the ground floor as well as a lovely sunroom where you can sit and relax taking in the countryside and coastal views. Upstairs there are two large bedrooms and a family bathroom. The garden which surrounds Mullhill is enclosed so perfect for the little ones or your four legged friends.
Port Logan is a small coastal village and a lovely walk along the quiet road will take you down to the village with a long sandy beach with the harbour at one end and Logan Fishpond at the other. The harbour is popular with sail boats, and you are welcome to launch small boats from the slip-way. Logan Fishpond is a natural rock pool that contains many fish and marine species and is a popular family attraction. A must while staying at Mullhill is a visit to Logan Botanic Gardens, world renowned and Scotland’s most Exotic Garden where you can discover the most remarkable collection of beautiful and unusual plants from South and Central America, Southern Africa, Australia and New Zealand, it really is a paradise to behold. The walled garden is particularly breathtaking with is blaze of colour. You can also enjoy lunch in the Potting Shed Bistro and sample the locally sourced food and drink.
Only a short drive away from Mullhill are the coastal villages of Sandhead and Drummore where you can find small convenience stores, pubs and restaurants. This corner of Southwest Scotland, known as “The Rhins of Galloway” is an area unspoilt and boasting idyllic scenery and amazing seascapes, as dramatic as they are beautiful. Drummore is Scotland’s most southerly village and a short drive from the village is the Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s most southerly point, where you can climb the 115 steps to the top of the Lighthouse for a spectacular view. With its RSPB visitor centre, the area is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a stunning circular walk where thousands of seabirds nest in the cliff face during the spring and summer. Harbour porpoises, dolphins, seals, otters and minke whales can also be spotted.
Walking in the area is a delight whether clifftop, beaches, hills or forests and is a cyclist’s paradise, with miles of quiet country lanes on your doorstep as well as the world famous 7Stanes within easy reach. Beach 2 miles. Pub and restaurant 6½ miles.
