About this property

Ivy Cottage, Euridge - sleeps 9 guests in 4 bedrooms

Lying at the end of a country lane, surrounded by the most beautiful of views, Ivy Cottage is the epitome of an English idyll. As you pass the entrance to Euridge Manor and continue on past tree-lined fields, the sound of birdsong filling the air, the cares of the world seem to drift away.

This time-weathered stone cottage offers space and character, with all the creature comforts needed for a stay in the country. On the ground floor, you'll find a fabulous kitchen-diner, a comfortable living room with a cosy wood-burning stove and a Smart TV, the bunk bed room and both of the two bathrooms. There's also a rear porch, which is perfect for leaving outdoor gear and drying off wet doggies after a ramble through the countryside. Upstairs are three further bedrooms, one with a king-size bed, one with twin beds and one with a double bed.

Step outside and there's a private patio with a large wooden dining table and chairs to seat eight along with a shady sun parasol. The views from here are just mesmerising whatever the time of year. Linger here and watch the sheep playing in the fields below and birds of prey, including the impressive red kites in the skies above you. To the rear is a shared grass area with a washing line and a pathway which runs along the back of the three cottages.

Ground Floor

Entrance Hall:
A covered porch leads into a flagstone floored entrance hall, to one side a rail with coat hooks, and to the other a cupboard, which houses the washing machine and tumble dryer. There's also a large, full-length wall mirror.

Bedroom Four:
This cosy room maximises the space with bunk beds, on the bottom is a double bed, the top bed is a single, and at one end is a wooden step ladder for ease of access. Storage comes in the form of a double wardrobe and a five-drawer chest; the rich wooden floor is topped with a sheepskin rug and the deep-set window looks out to the rear.

Bathroom:
The first of the two bathrooms features a step-in shower cubicle, hand basin and WC.

Kitchen/Diner:
With original flagstone floors, exposed roof beams, double doors to the patio and a huge wooden dining table, which can doubtless tell a few stories, this lovely room is the heart of the cottage. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything practical needed for a self-catering stay, including a large fridge-freezer and dishwasher. The cream cupboards are topped with dark wooden work surfaces giving a stylish finish. A large much-loved wooden dining table seats eight in comfort and is where everything from long, lazy breakfasts to elegant evening meals can be enjoyed. Should the weather not be kind it's also a great space for arts and crafts. The dining room also features a large sideboard, and a glass-topped dresser, inside is plenty of cookery books should inspiration be needed.

Living Room:
The inner hall leads to the living room, which is a wide and welcoming room with warm wooden floors, a pair of arched sash windows and a wood-burning stove. Two comfortable sofas and a pair of armchairs provide plenty of seating and entertainment comes in the form of a large Smart TV. Vibrant artwork and occasional tables with reading lamps create a cosy atmosphere.

Bathroom:
The second bathroom boasts a clawfoot bath and a separate walk-in shower along with a WC and twin hand basins with a large mirror and shaver point above them. Three shelves provide storage for your toiletries.

First Floor

Bedroom One:
This pretty room has wonderful views to the front of the cottage and across the valley. The French-style upholstered double bed is made up with soft linens and floor-length curtains frame the sash window. Night console tables topped with glass reading lamps and a double wardrobe with plenty of hanging space complete the room.

Bedroom Two:
Boasting the same magical views, this comfortable bedroom is decorated in shades of grey and blue and is furnished with a king-size bed, bedside tables with reading lamps, a wardrobe, and a dressing table with a three-way mirror. There is also a leaning, full-length floor mirror. A sheepskin rug on the wooden floor keeps toes cosy.

Bedroom Three:
This cosy room is peaceful and serene and overlooks the rear of the cottage. A pretty rattan headboard frames the double bed and wooden bedside tables topped with lamps are placed on either side. Floor-length botanical print curtains add a gentle splash of colour and a large double wardrobe with plenty of hanging space and two drawers offers lots of storage. There's even a dressing table and stool with a three-way mirror.

Outside
As you arrive at Ivy Cottage a stone path leads down to the front door and around the side to the private patio, where you'll find a large wooden dining table and chairs to seat eight guests comfortably. There's also a large shady parasol for sunny days. It's a delightful place to sit with a morning coffee or enjoy evening drinks and alfresco dining. The large grass area to the front of the cottages is the shared garden for neighbouring Bluebell and Peartree Cottage. There are two parking spaces for Ivy Cottage.

Perfect location for a Cotswolds getaway

We booked the Cottage for a surprise birthday weekend for my mum. I contacted Alice the cleaner a couple of days before to find out whether we could check in earlier and we was able to which was brilliant. The Cottage is beautiful, with a lovely view over the countryside. The rooms aren't a bad size for a cottage and it has two bathrooms, one which is very large with a massive shower. There are a selection of games and DVDs in the lounge. It was also very helpful having a dishwasher and washing machine etc. The fridge/freezer is a very good size. The Cottage was pretty clean, there was still quite a lot of dog hair on the rug in the kitchen which was a shame as we have no pets but do understand they won't always fully clean up. Also some oven gloves and more than one tea towel would be ideal. Definitely recommend and there is a lovely pub a few minutes drive away in Ford called the White Hart, great portions and very tasty!

Easter stay

Overall a great place, and we'll definitely be back. Preparation was a bit sloppy though, and we had to ask for a few things: When we arrived, there was no: 1/ Camp cot 2/ Fire wood 3/ bbq But host response was timely and attentive and all of these issues were remedied immediately.

Comfortable and pleasant stay

Very soft and comfortable beds Warm cottage Only issue was that there was only one key for the cottage, in the key lock by the back door of the building, which made it a bit stressful when we first arrived as we couldn't get into the house easily!

Families and walking

Lovely cottage for families, kids played all day outside and explored. We did some walks from the house and also visited bath and westonbirt arboretum very close by. The house and the nature at the place are amazing. Definitely coming back.

Less than we had expected regarding price and pictures

Great location, however the property was really not clean. There was no vacuumcleaner, so also not much we could do about it ourselves. The beds were small and not so comfortable, which led to bad nightrest. The waterboiler really neads to be replaced, this is dangerous, the water just pours out. Could you please take care of this? The curtains in the living room are really old, worn out.
