The owners have tried to keep the history alive in this old farmer’s cottage with stunning exposed wooden beams throughout. It has patio doors and bi-folding doors at each end of the cottage which lead onto the patio and lawned area, and the open plan living space is filled with natural light all year round. The living area extends onto a large private patio through the fantastic bi-folding doors - perfect for having a glass of fizz on those long summer evenings outside or cosying up on the comfortable sofas in front of the wood burner which adds additional heat and charm. The cottage offers a well presented, well-equipped modern kitchen with breakfast bar, great for socialising. Both bedrooms are good sized with plush kingsize and double beds, fitted with fresh cotton sheets guaranteeing a perfect night’s sleep. Both bedrooms are accompanied by en-suite facilities and and Smart TVs.
Brontë Country is nearby, offering lots of wonderful walking routes across the moors and for those keen on cycling, why not try a section of the Tour de France route that runs through Keighley and Haworth? For a more relaxing way to explore the area, hop on the Worth Valley Steam Train from Keighley Station, which takes you on a 5-mile journey through the Haworth moors and on to Oxenhope, once home to the Brontë Sisters. The village of Haworth, 4 miles, is well worth a visit with its pretty cobbled streets lined with bunting and old-fashioned windows giving you a glimpse of the wares within. There is an array of antique shops, independent bookstores, pavement cafés and restaurants, plus the Brontë Parsonage Museum.
The market town of Skipton, also known as ‘The Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales’, 13 miles, is another great day out, with a tempting selection of bars and restaurants, a medieval castle and bustling street markets. You can also take a stroll along the Leeds and Liverpool canal that runs through, or simply watch the barges chug past from a bar overlooking the water. Grab a delicious afternoon tea at Betty’s Tea room in Ilkley and head to Bolton Abbey for a picture-perfect picnic beside the river. The only issue you will have is trying to fit everything in so why not book a few extra days!
