About this property
Dreamy Country Cottage perfect for Norfolk Broads and Suffolk Coast
Waveney Cottage is situated in attractive countryside just outside of Beccles. It's the perfect base for exploring the Suffolk coastline, broads and Norwich. There is a lovely log burner for cosy nights in and a large outside space that can be enjoyed on long summer nights. The stars and birds are an absolute wonder here.
The cottage has one double bedroom upstairs with a king size bed and a single downstairs, a newly refreshed bathroom (bath with shower 'over') leading off the double bedroom, a well-equipped kitchen, an enclosed private garden and its own parking. There is enough room for a travel cot in the double room and there is also a sofa bed for an extra guest if needed.
The cottage is on the grounds of our intimate camping/glamping site 'The Wildings at Elms Meadow'. The cottage is separate from this with it's own private outside space.
We are passionate about biodiversity and the environment and providing a space for guest to reconnect with nature. Much of our meadow is left to grow wild and we've tried to create diverse habitats to encourage biodiversity. Guests are more than welcome to walk around the site, there are lots of areas for little ones to explore including a wooden playhouse. We ask that guests to be respectful of the plants and wildlife.
There is lots to do in the area. The beautiful seaside town of Southwold is 25 mins away as is Walberswick which is fab for crabbing, lunch and ice cream eating! Covehithe is a naturally, wild beach which is great for a walk and picnic, not to mention the broads. There are ample opportunities for walking, canoeing, cycling, bird watching and boating locally. Norwich shops is a 30 minute drive away.
Please be aware that we are located close to a wedding venue (including their in-house accommodation), and that the surrounding land in the immediate vicinity is privately owned although there are a number of public footpaths nearby.
Our duvets and pillows are feather-filled. Please let us know in advance if you need an alternative option.

We are Anissa and Kevin Connor, we live with our three children in the main house at Waveney Lodge, Elms Road. We spent much of our early career working full on jobs in London but after losing a close loved one, we decided to pack it all in and brought a campervan. For six months, we drove through 18 European countries with our 6 month and 3 year old daughters. A kind of cathartic journey where we could process the grief and reassess what was important. During that journey, we parked up for the night on farmers fields, in woodlands, campsites, beaches and city centre car parks. We were exposed to the most magical places and experiences. People opened their homes and hearts to us in a way that we didn't expect, exposing us to the beauty of humanity. Over time, we built a dream of setting up a small intimate, camping/glamping site that offered an eclectic mix of the best bits of many places we experienced.
We didn't realise that dream for quite some time. We fell back into the London life for a while, had our son, Kasper, then covid hit. Again, we found ourselves reassessing life and made a very difficult decision to leave family and friends to pursue our pipe dream in late 2021. Given the major environmental and biodiversity challenges we're facing, it became increasingly important for us to ensure our children grow up understanding and feeling connected to nature so here we are...
We’re passionate about creating a special place where people can reconnect with each other and nature, make memories and maybe even life long friendships. We try to let the site establish a natural wilding feel with small cubby hole areas to explore and children to play. Quite a bit of our meadow is purposely left to rewild to maximise biodiversity.
We are delighted to welcome you and will do everything we can to make your stay a comfortable and enjoyable one.
