This accommodation is exactly as shown but with so much more, the attention to detail is outstanding, the owners are so friendly and helpful, each morning the hot tub is set up without anyone interupting your stay ( unless you are sitting outside with a cuppa and have a chat) highly recommend. We will be returningcuppa and have a cgat)
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely spacious cottage for 2. Enjoyed walking straight from the door and then relaxing in the hot tub after. The cottage was clean & very well equipped and everything was beautiful inside. The hamper left for us was a nice touch. Can highly recommend staying here.
Immaculate throughout a lovely welcoming pack on arrival hot tub was great Jan & Craig the owners were very helpful and lovey people, great location with pub in village and some great walks, would recommend we will look forward to returning soon
We have had a wonderful stay..the cottage is the perfect place to unwind and the hot tub is the icing on the cake. Jan and Craig are the most generous hosts and we plan to return in the near future when hopefully the weather will be kinder.
We have just returned from a wonderful relaxing stay in this beautiful cottage which has been decorated and laid out to a very high standard. Everything in the cottage had been thought of to enhance and make our stay so comfortable and enjoyable - The welcome basket was also a lovely additional touch.
The hot tub is a great addition and great for relaxing in after a day exploring the local beautiful countryside.
A huge thank you has to go to Jan for making us feel so welcome - We look forward to returning to stay at this cottage again in the not too distant future.
We spent our wedding anniversary weekend walking and soaking in the hot tub.
A lovely holiday let in a lovely village with an exceptional goody box on arrival.
Great information provided before arrival and great recommendation for Sunday Lunch at the Olde Gate Inn in Brassington.
Beautifully presented throughout, superb location for days out in the peak district, lovely local pub too! Jan was very welcoming on arrival and made sure we had everything we needed. A truly perfect place to stay, will return for longer next time! Thank you
It was an absolute pleasure to stay in a wonderful cottage where you didn’t want for anything - a place that I would gladly recommend to anyone looking to find some peace and quiet in a glorious location
We had a wonderful stay in this property. It was fantastically well equipped with robes, towels and everything we needed for cooking. The hot tub was brilliant... kept the heat so well. Our hosts topped up our firewood without being asked and were communicative without being intrusive. Location was lovely too perfect for the trips we had planned. Parking was tricky until we got used to it so be prepared for that when you arrive, and bring some slippers/flip flops as they were the only thing not provided
We'd booked this property for a short break and to enjoy some hill walking. The cottage is beautifully furnished, with lots of attention to detail, very comfortable and with everything you can possibly need. Great communication before, easy to find with good instructions as we were arriving very late. Village location is perfect with access to lots of walks close by in one of our favourite locations in England. Two days of wall to wall sunshine was a total bonus and we enjoyed the private garden and hot tub, wonderul after walking. Thank you for a lovely stay
We were fortunate to spend a week at the cottage in the beautiful village of Carsington. It was the perfect base for exploring Derbyshire. On our arrival there was a lovely welcome package of food, snacks and drinks. The cottage itself is spotless and has been beautifully renovated and furnished. The kitchen is well equipped. The living/dining room spacious and comfortable, and the bedroom cozy with a lovely comfortable bed. We really appreciated the hot tub after a long day of walking! Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Five stars!

About the host

We have lived in the Midlands and North of the UK for all of our lives and moved to this village over 20 years ago. We love the surrounding countryside, the peacefulness and the active lifecycle that comes with living near so many beautiful walking, running, cycling, sailing locations. We wanted to share it with others so decided to start our first holiday let in 2022. We can't wait to welcome you to The Old Workshop and make sure you have an amazing stay!
Why they chose this property
The cottage comes with a rich, interesting history. The area was an active Lead Mining area going back to Roman times, through to the 19th century. Many of the houses built in the village were built to support the mining community who lived in the 1600s and 1700s and many of them hold Listed status - meaning they are of historical significance. The Old Workshop was - in fact - a Miners workshop. It is said that Miners would stop off here on the way to and from the mines on the hill behind the cottage. In 2015, the old derelict workshop building was completely transformed by a local family and extended to become the cottage it is today.
