This Cornish village is centred around the harbour, with its ancient 800-year-old quay—from which, and not Plymouth, the Mayflower set sail for America—curving around a few tiny craft on the western side. The flat Mousehole to Marazion bike path and the Cornwall Coastal Path both pass through the town, which is known for the Newlyn School of Art and Newlyn Copper. Both offer a wealth of natural beauty and fauna, including frequent sightings of grey seals, dolphins, and basking sharks. Penwith has some beautiful beaches where you may surf and go sea bass fishing. The Cornish coast is known for its surfing.
