About the host
Hosted by Mr Darren R O'Conor

Hi I'm Darren, delighted to be your host at our treasured hideaway in Estepona. Myself and my partner in crime Alex love to spend as much time as we can there, drinking in the rugged beauty of Southern Spain.
Back in the UK, we live on a converted farmhouse with four horses, two dogs, three cats and three grown-up kids who seem to keep coming back.
I love all sports, but have to content myself with swimming and cycling after a knee injury; and I'm a big fan of French novels and BD, Korean food and movies, and guitar music from Sao Paulo to Senegal. At work I'm a learning designer, creating programmes to help people fulfil their true potential.

Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Estepona one winter - amazed to find such warmth, life, beauty, great food and drink in January. So it was a dream of ours to have a place here for a while.
Then Covid-19 happened. Alex and I lost a lot of people who were very important to us. It made us think differently our lives, and made us ask questions like "Why wait?"
So we went for it, and scrabbled together the money for our dream home by the sea.
Being on the beach and right next to central Estepona was really important for us, and lots of people advised us to make sure to be part of a friendly, safe Community - which is exactly what you get at Villas Andaluzas.
On the complex, there's a nice mix of Spanish and French, Swedes and Norwegians, Dutch folk and Brits - everyone is relaxed, happy to help and happy to chat, and equally okay with giving you space and privacy if that's what you want.
Looking to the right from the villa, you're a five minute walk from Estepona centre, with its many bars, shops and restaurants - a little further on is the UNESCO designated old town, and the busy port.
Going the other way, by bike or on foot, you'll pass beach bars and swanky hotels, as you get closer to some of the pretty, elevated villages like Cancelada and Benhavis.
Estepona is a brilliant launchpoint for so many tempting trips - La Ronda in the mountains; Tarifa, Gilbraltar or even into Portugal along the coast; Seville, Jerez and Granada can all be reached in two to three hours; and there are frequent boats to Morocco - Tangiers and Casablanca.
To sum it all up I'd say that Alex and I enjoy every second we are able to spend there - and we feel sure you will feel the same.
