About this property

Pretty house near shops and other facilities, close to the centre of Oxford

The house provides a great location for visiting Oxford and historic sites in the area including Blenheim Palace. It also has easy access to London and the main London airports. The house itself is light, quiet and a peaceful place to relax.

It is tucked away in a quiet location within a busy suburb of Oxford about 3 km from the historic city centre and world-famous university. It is on a path set back from roads and has a private car parking space 20 metres from the house.

The house has an open and light ground floor with a living room, dining room and kitchen. The living room has a comfortable settee and arm chairs, and a modern TV. The dining room has a dining table and four chairs, and is adjacent to the kitchen.

The kitchen has a cooker with hob and oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, clothes washer/dryer and storage cupboards. The kitchen is well-equipped with crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment including pots, pans and cooking utensils.

The front patio has a table and chairs and provides a place to sit outside which is surrounded by climbing plants and other greenery. The patio is south-facing and is sunny for much of the day in summer. There is also a small private outside sitting area at the back of the house.

Upstairs there is a double bedroom with a king-size bed, a single bedroom and a bathroom with a bath and shower. There is also a balcony that overlooks the living room. It has a desk, desk chair and lamp, and is ideal for working in a light and attractive environment. Free wi-fi is provided and the router is in the living room.

The house is less than 5 minutes' walk from the centre of Headington where there are shops, restaurants and cafes. There are numerous food shops including supermarkets and specialist food sellers.

Bury Knowle Park is a beautiful public park about 200 metres from the house. It includes a play park, hard courts for tennis and other sports, and a café. The village of Old Headington is a conservation area that can be accessed through the park. It includes an 11th century church and many listed buildings.

Headington has excellent bus services with bus stops that are close to the house. There are regular and frequent direct bus services from Headington to the centre of Oxford and the journey normally takes about 10 minutes. There is also a direct bus service to central London (the 'Oxford Tube') and direct bus services to and from the main London airports (Heathrow and Gatwick).

The house is also very close to Oxford Brookes University, the John Radcliffe Hospital (which is the main hospital for the region), the Manor Hospital, the Churchill Hospital and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.

Perfect in every way

We chose the property for the location near the hospital so my husband was close by whilst I was there. It proved to be perfect, very comfortable, quiet with wonderfully caring hosts. A very well stocked kitchen with a basket of goodies as a welcome pack. We would highly recommend this property.

Our stay in Linden Court, Headington

Linden Court was a stunning property. Very clean and comfortable. Good location. Easy access into the City of Oxford by bus. Reasonably priced and no hassle with parking. Our hosts Linda and David were very friendly and helpful. They made us feel very welcome and were on hand if you encountered any problems. Thank you both for making our short stay very enjoyable.

Best Stay Ever!

This was such a great stay. Location is perfect with coffee shops, cafes and a beautiful park nearby. Beds were very comfortable and the unit was ultra clean. Bus stops are within 2-3 minute walk and it’s a very short ride to Oxford City Centre. The host is possibly the nicest you will meet. She’s a gem and is very responsive to any questions.

Very comfortable and cosy house

The two story house gave a very spacious feeling. The bedrooms were separated by a hallway and as all other things about this house things where extremely well planned. No noise from neighbours or traffic even thou buses were only a 5 minutes walk away which made it easy to discover Oxford and get to the airport. Cosy pubs 10 minutes walk away. Highly recommended.

The perfect base for our Oxford stay

This property was perfect for us in every way. Just the right size and very well appointed, with every amenity we could ask for. There were even breakfast provisions waiting for us when we arrived. The location couldn’t be better. A short walk to a Waitrose, and to the bus stop for a short ride to the center of Oxford. A slightly longer walk (maybe 10 minutes) to two lovely pubs. Finally, communications with our hosts were outstanding. Linda showed genuine concern for our arrival and our comfort. Thank you, Linda, for a great VRBO experience in Oxford.

The kindness of strangers

I arrived at Linda and David’s lovely lodging with a foot injury and have never been treated with such kindness. Linda came by everyday and checked on me. She grocery shopped and brought me reading materials. I ordered her dinners and was surprised at the clean healthy meals she delivered each evening. Gourmet and simple at the same time. They were flexible about my arrival, possible cancellation and departure hour. It truly was the best recovery I could ever had wished for. I will return another time with my partner and I recommend the listing without one reservation.

Visit to Oxford

David and Linda are excellent hosts. The flat is a little tucked away and the directions they gave were very helpful and we found it easily. It was clean and modern and had everything we needed. They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable during our stay. There are a lot of great places to eat and get coffee just a short walk away. The bus stops are also very close by. We would definitely come back if we ever visit the area again. It is close to Oxford City Center which is where we spent most of our time.

About the host

Hosted by Linda Ramsbottom

Host profile image
My name is Linda Ramsbottom and I live with my husband David and son Sam in a nearby house in Headington. I am a nurse and David is a civil engineer. We have lived here for over 30 years and love the convenience of the area. We have been Vrbo hosts for some time and our priority is to do what we can to ensure that our guests have an enjoyable stay in Oxford.

Why they chose this property

This property provides a wonderful combination of convenience and peacefulness in a stimulating but busy city. The local shops include a range of food markets and cafes, and the transport links make getting around without a car very easy. There are also some exceptional public parks within easy walking distance that give an almost rural feel to parts of east Oxford. It is also close to the John Radcliffe Hospital and the other hospitals in Headington.

What makes this property unique

We love this property because it is green and quiet, yet very close to the facilities of Headington and a short bus ride (or 40-minute walk) into the centre of Oxford. The view from the large front windows is dominated by greenery and the path is only used by our immediate neighbours, so the front of the property is both private and beautiful. Our young granddaughter calls it 'the house in the forest'.
