About this property

Easy Walk To Rehoboth And Dewey Beaches! Beachside of Route 1

As featured in "Delaware Today", this adorable, uncomplicated house is located in Dodd's Addition, nestled between Rehoboth and Dewey, just east of Rte 1. (The Forgotten Mile!) It's a great neighborhood with wonderful, friendly neighbors. It is exactly a half mile walk to the sand, around the lake and through a shady, peaceful neighborhood. We provide a "beach wagon" to pull your gear.
With a newer kitchen, beautiful hardwood floors, and a delightful detached screened porch, you're sure to enjoy your time here. The back yard is entirely fenced in, as well.
The wide open floor plan has 2 bedrooms up, (one bedroom has a full sized bed, the other has two twins) one bedroom down with a queen sized bed. Each bedroom has a "Jack and Jill" connected bath. The upstairs bath has a tub/shower, while the downstairs has a shower. The roomy outdoor shower is a favorite.
The kitchen has an electric cooktop/oven, dishwasher, microwave, large refrigerator with water and ice dispenser, disposal, and full sized washer and dryer. There is also a toaster oven, electric griddle, and drip coffeemaker. For those cookouts, we have a charcoal grill in the back yard.
We provide beach chairs, and a pull-wagon also.
*This is not a "PARTY" house. It is in a quiet, family oriented neighborhood, and is the only rental on the block. If your plans are to let loose with a large group, loud music, and 6 cars, please look elsewhere. *
Please note, as yet, the staircase is not carpeted, which may be a consideration for some, especially small children.
The driveway will accommodate 2 cars, plus there is free street parking, though VERY limited.
We keep a supply of cleaning and dishwashing supplies, toilet paper and paper towels, as well as basic spices and condiments.

PLEASE NOTE! YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN SHEETS AND TOWELS!
We do NOT provide bath soap or shampoo.

Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance-It is recommended that guests purchase "cancel for any reason" trip cancellation/interruption insurance in case of family emergencies/bad weather delays, flight/rental car cancellations, job loss, Covid-19 bans/restrictions, etc. If you cannot make your trip, and the cancellation window has lapsed, you can seek reimbursement through your travel insurance. Excellent beach cottage

Really sweet & well maintained beach cottage. Walking distance to Chesapeake Street entrance of Dewey Beach. Clean & comfortable on a quiet and tidy residential street very close to Coastal Highwt Y.

Lovely home for a family stay at the beach

This house was perfect for our family of 4 vacation to the beach. We have two younger children- age 5 and 7 and both LOVED staying here. The screened in hangout room in the backyard was one of their favorite places to play. The location was great as well, it is in a cute and quiet area, and was a quick 10-15 minute walk to the beach. The house comes well appointed with chairs and a beach wagon to haul all of your gear. We would stay here again and would highly recommend it!

Clean and quiet

The cottage was beautiful and the perfect size for our girls trip. It was extremely neat and in a quiet area so we weren’t disturbed when we sat outside morning or night. We walked to the beach every morning to get our day started. John was so easy to talk to and always answered promptly when there was a question before and during the trip! If I stay in Rehoboth again I will be back to the cottage!

Perfect Trip!

We had a wonderful stay at John and Murph’s place. The space was clean, and had everything you would need. The screened in space in the backyard and outdoor shower were also wonderful. It was an easy walk to the beach through a beautiful neighborhood. We also noticed the beach was much less crowded than other areas, which was an additional perk! Hope to come back again in the future.

A wonderful summer cottage!

This home comfortably accommodated a family of five including 3 teenagers. The screened-in porch was a huge plus with the extra beach chairs, charcoal grill, and outdoor shower. The spaces were clean, comfortable, and well-stocked. The location is quiet. We brought our bikes and could easily ride into either Dewey or Rehoboth. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Beach vaca

Super cute property- you can walk to the beach and town but it is 20-30 minutes. However, it is walkable. Rehoboth Boardwalk is fantastic. Shops, restaurants, coffee shops and even a small amusement park- Dewey is quieter and was perfect for my family. The neighborhood was quiet- morning time in the enclosure. Tons of beach chairs, some very new, some older. Cute beach wagon. Parking (except for the rental street), almost all $4 an hour. Can get multiple day pass. Loved the outside shower. Everything you need in a kitchen! All nice kitchenware. Beds comfy!

Amazing beach cottage

Great hosts and property. We loved our stay in this cute beach cottage. The location is super convenient to everything. Our favorite part was the screened in back porch. We hope to stay again next year.

Wonderful Home in Rehoboth

We had a fantastic family vacation here. The house is beautifully kept with all the necessary amenities and more! The property and layout worked out really well for us for a week long stay and the location is perfect. It’s close to the beach as well as downtown Rehoboth. We will definitely be back!

Easy location for enjoying the beach at Rehoboth

Staying at this property made it very easy to enjoy our stay in Rehoboth. The 15 min walk to the beach was made easy thanks to the wagon and chairs provided, and rinsing off in the outdoor shower after a long day was a dream. The layout is also ideal for a small group to cook a meal, eat together, and play games outside in the screened in porch. We all had a great time staying here!

Beach vacation

Super Cute & Convenient Beach Cottage

We had a fantastic stay at William F Cottage. Owners are great communicators. Property was cozy, well-stocked, and had the perfect layout for spending time with our family of five. The screened in porch offered many hours of Catan game playing and the outdoor shower was a great way to start and end the day. Location is easy access to walk into Dewey. A quick bike ride into downtown Rehoboth. Air conditioning works great, beds are comfortable, and the gourmet kitchen fully stocked for the at-home Chef. Convenient to Liquor store, Fifer's farm kitchen, and Rehoboth Ale House. Thanks John and Murph! We had a great summer 2023 vacay!!

Brief stay at William F Cottage

We liked everything about the cottage. It is clean, updated, and tastefully decorated. The interior felt spacious, and there is plenty of outdoor space. Just bring your clothing and linens. Everything else is provided. The neighborhood is great with many well landscaped properties. It is very quite, even though you are close to Route 1 Highway. There is a little bit of a walk to get to the beach, but that was not a problem with us. Given the opportunity, we would definitely stay there again when visiting Rehoboth Beach.

A gem for our Memorial Day weekend

This place is a true gem, 15 min walk to the beach, well stocked kitchen and everything was exactly as advertised. Hosts were extremely responsive (within the hour) and helpful. Definitely would stay here again.

Excellent Stay at William F Cottage.

This was our second year staying at William F.l Cottage and had a wonderful time. The house was I'm excellent condition and perfect for a family get away. The house really has all you need so only had to bring linens for the beds and towels n such. Can't wait to come back next year. Thanks a bunch John and Murph!

Nice house, good location

The cottage is really nice inside, well appointed and clean, and it worked great for the 4 adults in our group. We had dinner most nights in the screened in pavilion out back. We used the front deck in the mornings/early afternoons. The walk to the beach was pleasant and felt relatively quick (we walked via the Silver Lake bridge to the beaches at the southern tip of the Rehoboth boardwalk). There is a bit of noise from Rt 1 if you’re sitting on the front deck but most of the time it wasn’t bothersome.

Family Beach Trip

We stayed here for a ladies long weekend beach trip. This is a very nice house. Very clean. It had everything we needed. John and Murph responded quickly both before and during our stay. Checkin was easy. We would definitely stay here again.

Cute property!

We enjoyed this easy living and community feel. The environment was quiet and easily accessible to Rehoboth and Dewey beaches. The property owners where very communicative about some issues they were having with the house prior to our check in. Issues where handled quickly and effectively! Recommend this stay!

We live full time in Baltimore, and summered across the street for 20 years, so we love the area. When the owner offered to sell this house to us, we took the plunge. It has taken a lot of sweat and work to get it this far, and we readily admit that we have a ways to go yet, and will continue to make it a place that you would want to return to.

Why they chose this property

The entire Rehoboth/Dewey Beach area is a wonderful way to dial it back, take a breath, and relax. The beautiful beaches, the small geographic footprint of the area, and the wonderful dining and shopping opportunities await you.
This is a sweet little house. It doesn't have miles of Italian marble, crystal chandeliers,
and 500 square foot closets. It does have a homey, simple, comfortable vibe, with extra amenities that guests expect.
We have worked very hard to make it a place you'd love to return too, as many guests have done. (By "we", I mean the two of us- and whew! We've learned a lot! ) We hope that our love for the house shows, and that you would look forward to visiting, and returning.

What makes this property unique

Because we are so close to the beach, and on the east/beach side of Route 1, the location is wonderful. When Summer traffic is bad, you needn't fool with Route 1.
